THE ISSUES FOR YOUR VOTE TO MATTER FOR AMERICA'S FUTURE

ARTICLES ON THE SUBJECT OF ILLEGAL & LEGAL IMMIGRATION

MAJOR INSULTS IN THE PRESIDENT'S AMNESTY SPEECH TODAY

DEAR FRIENDS,

That was a very sad spectacle at American University this morning. To see all those national leaders of religion, unions, business, etc. applauding the President's appeal for more foreign workers during a time of high unemployment was disheartening.

Be sure to  and take all actions that are shown there to protest this constant war by our nation's elites against America's working class, college students and taxpayers.
Here are a few of the key signals that I heard the President send today. You can
read my analysis of all of them in my blog.

PRES. OBAMA DOESN'T KNOW THAT AMERICAN COLLEGE GRADS ARE HAVING ONE OF WORST YEARS EVER FOR FINDING A JOB?

"And while we provide students from around the world visas to get engineering and computer science degrees at our top universities, our laws discourage them from using those skills to start a business or power a new industry right here in the United States. Instead of training entrepreneurs to create jobs on our shores, we train our competition."

Read my analysis of this comment here.

JOBLESS AMERICANS ARE A SPECIAL INTEREST WHO MUST BE OPPOSED?

"In sum, the system is broken. And everybody knows it. Unfortunately, reform has been held hostage to political posturing and special-interest wrangling -– and to the pervasive sentiment in Washington that tackling such a thorny and emotional issue is inherently bad politics."

Folks, just who ARE the "special interests" who are blocking "comprehensive immigration reform?"

Read my analysis of this comment here.

THE LIE THAT DEMOCRATS ARE UNITED BEHIND AN AMNESTY

Interestingly, Mr. Obama did not turn his speech into the Republican-bashing screed that the open-borders groups had requested. Various political publications had indicated that he had been urged to turn his speech into a major campaign effort to inspire voters to turn on Republicans in the fall congressional elections for having blocked "comprehensive immigration reform."

My guess is that the President realized that the truth in what several of those publications suggested -- that there are more votes to be gained this fall by opposing amnesty than by promoting it.

Nonetheless, Pres. Obama implied several times in his speech that getting the amnesty through depends totally on Republicans. The further implication in that is that he has the Democrats all lined up.

Read my further analysis of this comment here.

PRESIDENT USES HIS FAILURE AT ENTRY/EXIT SYSTEM AS EXCUSE FOR AMNESTY

"In fact, because we don’t do a very good job of tracking who comes in and out of the country as visitors, large numbers avoid immigration laws simply by overstaying their visas."

This was one of several references that the President made to his failure to enforce immigration laws already on the books.

But instead of pledging to do a better job in the future or acknowledging that as President he has it totally in his power to fix the problem he describes, he says the failure is the reason we must give permanent access to U.S. jobs to all illegal aliens in the country.

Read my analysis of this comment here.

PROF. OBAMA DOES NOT UNDERSTAND IMMIGRATION HISTORY

"Of course, the tensions around immigration are not new. On the one hand, we’ve always defined ourselves as a nation of immigrants -- a nation that welcomes those willing to embrace America’s precepts. Indeed, it is this constant flow of immigrants that helped to make America what it is. . . Each new wave of immigrants has generated fear and resentments towards newcomers, particularly in times of economic upheaval."

Read my short explanation of how Mr. Obama's historical perspective is skewed and non-factual.

TOUTING WORKER VERIFICATION WHILE REFUSING TO SUPPORT IT IN CONGRESS

"And we’re implementing and improving a system to give employers a reliable way to verify that their employees are here legally. But we need to do more. We cannot continue just to look the other way as a significant portion of our economy operates outside the law. It breeds abuse and bad practices. It punishes employers who act responsibly and undercuts American workers. And ultimately, if the demand for undocumented workers falls, the incentive for people to come here illegally will decline as well."

In fact, Pres. Obama continually opposes requiring businesses to verify their new hires. The SAVE Act in Congress dies on the vine even though it would easily pass if Senate and House leaders would allow a vote.

Read my analysis of how he holds verification hostage -- along with border security -- for the ransom of getting amnesty passed.

Despite all the flowery language and his attempts to paint the majority of Americans as immoral because they oppose an amnesty, the President today failed to obscure the fact that our immigration system is broken because the person living in the White House -- as the three occupants before him -- refuses to do his job of enforcing the nation's immigration laws.

THANKS FOR HELPING US MEET OUR JUNE FINANCIAL GOAL AND FOR FORCING PRES. OBAMA'S SPEECH TODAY

First, 99% of the activists at NumbersUSA express great appreciation to the 1% of you who made donations to meet the June operating budget goal.

I wrote to you earlier this week that we were not even halfway to the goal. Several thousand of you stepped up to the bucket and tossed in donations that amazingly brought us up to the goal in a little over 24 hours. THANKS.

NumbersUSA Action is entirely funded by citizens making small donations. It takes 1% of activists doing so every month. Over a year, 12% of you pay the costs for all 100% to flood Congress and the President with faxes and phone messages.

Thanks to all of your faxing and phoning, Pres. Obama has had such a hard time finding interest in Congress to pass his amnesty that he had to resort to the publicity stunt at American University today.

Because of the faxing and phoning you will do the rest of this week, most Members of Congress will remain afraid to follow the President on his call for more foreign workers. I don't take victory on this for granted. It will happen only because all of you continue to step forward and act.

THANKS,

2. More Than 550,000 Deportation Orders Were Unenforced

Over a recent 12-year period, the U.S. allowed 1.8 million aliens — many of them in the country illegally — to remain free pending their scheduled court hearing, and 736,000 of them never showed up in court.

The evasion of court dates by illegal aliens skyrocketed after 2001 — from 2002 to 2006, more than half of all aliens summoned to court simply disappeared.

“We all know how bad the federal government is at controlling our border, but we face the same problem in the system set up to handle immigration cases,” said Hans von Spakovsky, senior legal fellow at the Heritage Foundation’s Center for Legal and Judicial Studies.

Illegal aliens who are apprehended are ordered to appear before immigration courts that are part of the Justice Department’s Executive Office for Immigration Review (EOIR).

And the EOIR masks the problem of no-shows by manipulating the numbers, according to von Spakovsky, who cites former immigration judge Mark Metcalf’s recent testimony before a House subcommittee.

In 2005 and 2006, for example, EOIR told Congress that the “overall failure” rate of aliens to appear in court was 39 percent, when in fact it was 59 percent. EOIR came up with the lower figure by combining the appearance rates for aliens who were free with those who were in jail and had no choice but to appear in court.

The overwhelming majority of aliens who lost their cases “just walk away and disappear,” von Spakovsky writes under the headline “A Broken Immigration Court System.”

In 2008, 558,000 deportation orders remained unenforced, and of those ordered deported, 45,000 were illegal aliens from countries that the Department of Homeland Security says abet terrorism.

A major reason for the failure to carry through on deportation orders is the fact that immigration judges lack the ability to enforce their orders. That is left to Homeland Security, which has a “lackadaisical attitude” toward enforcement, according to von Spakovsky, who declares: “I can’t think of any word more appropriate to describe this situation than appalling

Pro Amnesty Walt Disney Chairman and CEO Robert Iger - calling for legalization of illegal aliens - immigration reform - so "people" can build "their own
American
dream."

By SARA KUGLER FRAZIER, Associated Press Writer Sara Kugler Frazier, Associated Press Writer

Thu Jun 24, 2:13 pm ET

NEW YORK – Chief executives of several major corporations, including Hewlett-Packard, Boeing, Disney and News Corp., are joining Mayor
Michael Bloomberg to form a coalition advocating for immigration reform
— including a path to legal status for all undocumented immigrants now in the United States.

The group includes several other big-city mayors and calls itself the Partnership for a New American Economy. It seeks to reframe immigration
reform as the solution to repairing and stimulating the economy.

Bloomberg and Rupert Murdoch, chairman and CEO of News Corp., appeared together Thursday on Fox News to discuss the effort.

"We're just going to keep the pressure on the congressmen," Murdoch said. "I think we can show to the public the benefits of having migrants and the
jobs that go with them."

Bloomberg added, "Somebody has to lead and explain to the country why this is in our interest."

The CEOs said Thursday in statements that their companies — and the nation — depend on immigrants.

"It's our great strength as a nation, and it's also critical for continued economic growth," Walt Disney Co. Chairman and CEO Robert Iger said in
a statement. "To remain competitive in the 21st century, we need
effective immigration reform that invites people to contribute to our shared success by building their own American dream."

The group says it intends to make its point to policymakers by "publishing studies, conducting polls, convening forums and sponsoring public
education campaigns."

The tactics are similar to those used by Bloomberg's coalition of mayors who support gun control.

Bloomberg has for years criticized the federal government for its immigration laws, proposing in 2006 a plan that would have established a DNA or fingerprint database to track and verify all legal U.S. workers.

The billionaire mayor, a former CEO of the financial information company Bloomberg LP, also said at the time that all 12 million undocumented immigrants in the United States should be given the opportunity for citizenship,
saying that deporting them is impossible and would devastate the
economy.

Lawmakers who wanted to deport all illegal immigrants were "living in a fantasy world," he said.

He has recently taken up the fight again, declaring this week that U.S. immigration policy "is national suicide."

"If you want to solve the unemployment prob in America, you have to open the doors to immigrants who will come here, create businesses, because
when the tide comes in, everybody's boat rises," Bloomberg told
reporters Thursday. "We need more immigrants, not less."

William Gheen, president of the Americans for Legal Immigration Political Action Committee, which supports strict immigration laws, called the CEOs
"traitors" and said he and his supporters are discussing a possible
boycott of the companies involved.

"What is it with these billionaires who want to betray Americans that have made them who they are?" Gheen said. "This country club doesn't seem to care about anything but their money and power. Millions of Americans are unemployed and
underemployed, and they want to turn millions of illegals into voters."

The business and mayoral coalition's main immigration goals are to secure the borders, develop an easy system for employers to verify work eligibility, hold companies accountable for breaking the laws and improve the use of technology to prevent illegal immigration.

It also wants more opportunities for immigrants to join the U.S. work force and a path to legal status for all undocumented immigrants.

ImmigrationWorks USA, a national federation of businesses that support immigration, welcomed
Bloomberg's group to the effort. Tamar Jacoby, the organization's
president and CEO, said the coalition's main contribution would likely
be the extra attention and power it can bring to the debate.

"I don't know that they're going to be in the trenches everyday organizing grass roots, following the policy process," Jacoby said. "It's more a 30,000-foot approach — these big names adding their muscle
to the push to get this on the table."

Bloomberg spokesman Jason Post said no money has been spent on the effort yet, and he could not say
whether the group will be a standard nonprofit, a political action
committee or a group known as a 501(c)4 nonprofit, which can operate
outside the more strict limits governing political action committees.

The business leaders in the coalition employ more than 650,000 people and make more than $220 billion in annual sales, combined.

The effort marks Bloomberg's return to national issues after he spent 2009 campaigning for a third term, focusing mostly on New York City's municipal concerns.

The Republican-turned-independent spent about two years testing the waters for an independent 2008 presidential run, but ultimately he gave up the idea.

By recruiting business leaders and mayors into a national-issue coalition, he is highlighting his background in running a city and running a business, which could be seen as an early move to dust off
his presidential aspirations.

He denied that Thursday, saying he is not running for president.

"After proclaiming loudly that the GOP's tough immigration stance was going to really, really hurt them among Hispanic voters, Democrats have finally looked at some polling and decided that to a great degree the country agrees with the Republican position. Just six weeks ago, Liberal Democrats like Al Sharpton were quaking with righteous indignation over the passage of the new immigration law in Arizona. According to the New York Daily News from April 26, 2010: 'Sharpton said he would mobilize people from across the country to march in Arizona -- and get arrested, if necessary -- to stop the controversial new law.' Now, according to Politico.com: 'Democratic officials have concluded there's only one way they can hope to pass a comprehensive immigration bill: Talk more like Republicans.' Carrie Budoff Brown reports the Democrats have done a multi-year study and decided to 'craft an enforcement-first, law-and-order, limited-compassion pitch' including calling 'the 12 million people who unlawfully reside the country "illegal immigrants," not "undocumented workers."' Having actually talked to real people, Democratic operatives are giving this advice to Liberal groups and Members of Congress about phrases like 'undocumented workers:' 'If the language appears fine to you, it is probably best not to use it. You are an activist, and by definition, you are out of the mainstream.' This isn't Rush Limbaugh, remember. Liberal Members of Congress are being told by their own guys they 'are out of the mainstream' on immigration." --political analyst Rich Galen

Thousands of acres of the Sonoran Desert closed to Americans!

The U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service has closed large portion of Southern Arizona in and around the Buenos Aires National Wildlife Refuge and all
along the southern side of I-8 between Casa Grande and Gila Bend. This
is 80 miles north of the Mexican border and its now off limits to
American citizens!!

A reliable informant known to us as “Duck Hunter” has told the U.S. Border Fire Report that the Mexican Drug cartels now control large areas of Southern Arizona. According to the Pinal County Sheriff large
areas in Southern Arizona are very dangerous and is off limits to U.S.
citizens. Where is Congress and DHS in this new Mexican-American war
that we seem to be losing?

According to the U.S. Fish & Wildlife this area is about 3500 acres in size. Our concern for public safety is paramount. The situation in this zone has reached a point where continued public use
of the area is not prudent. The Buenos Aires National Wildlife Refuge
has been adversely affected by border-related activities. The
international border with Mexico has also become increasingly violent.

Assaults on law enforcement officers, U.S. Citizens and violence against migrants have escalated in recent times. Violence on the Refuge associated with smugglers and border bandits has been well documented.

Many of these activities are concentrated at the border and inland for 80 miles.

The concentration of illegal activity, surveillance and law enforcement interdictions make these zones dangerous. Closure is in effect until further notice according to Mitch Ellis Buenos Aires NWR
Refuge Manager.

Concerned Citizens group say “there are now signs posted here in AZ just off I-8. No more camping south of I-8.

So, our government has surrendered and ceded part of Arizona to the smugglers and cartels of Mexico?
What do you think would happen if signs like this were to be found back East? But this is just backwater, flyover AZ so it doesn’t count to the
media and Congress, I guess. Folks, this nation better wake up and pay
attention. This is only the beginning of what you can expect in YOUR
backyards. This is not an exaggeration: I stopped hiking some of my
favorite mountains and canyons because of the smuggling dangers. Who
wants to carry more guns and ammo than water in order to survive in the
Arizona desert? That is what it has become. Maybe your state is next?

Duck Hunter said “How much land are we going to allow the Drug and Smuggling trade to take from the States.”

Here is another area that is “Officially” CLOSED This area is completely closed and has been for almost 4 yrs due to the violence of border issues.

3500 acres of Buenos Aires NWR. See notice below.

According to Duck Hunter ARMED TROOPS TO THE ARIZONA BORDER NOW! OR WE CAN DO THE ARMED MINUTEMAN THING. Either way this must be and it will be dealt with by American Concerned Citizens!

The TV ads are an important supplement to the outstanding ways that all of you have been countering boycott attempts and pushing your own states to imitate Arizona.

Political bullies around the nation are trying to intimidate Arizonans into asking their elected officials to back down on the enforcement laws they have been enacting the last few years.

It is important to the entire nation that Arizona hold firm as a model of what a state can do to reduce its illegal population. As many as 25% of illegal aliens in Arizona may have left the state during the last couple of years, and its voters and officials are determined to keep the outflow continuing.

Wouldn’t a 25% drop in the illegal population of your state be fantastic!

The most important action would be for your state to adopt
Arizona’s mandatory workplace verification law. But another good way would be copying the latest law that helps local police detect and detain illegal aliens. Perhaps its most important contribution is that illegal alien leaders and local news media tend to become hysterical and scare a lot of illegal aliens into fleeing the state.

AD REMINDS THAT FEDS HAVE DROPPED BALL ON ENFORCEMENT

Take a look at this ad:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BXtcDxhaEN4

This ad reminds Arizonans that they can’t rely on the feds to protect them from an illegal-alien invasion. If they want respite, their state has to provide it.

THIS AD SHOWS THAT LEGAL IMMIGRATION IS ALSO A CULPRIT IN KEEPING AMERICANS UNEMPLOYED

Arizona, like most of America, is suffering from severe high unemployment.

There is a tendency to focus just on illegal aliens taking jobs from Americans.

In fact, though, the federal government has been putting even more U.S. citizens out of work by continuing without relief its immigration system of importing a net of about 125,000 working-age permanent immigrants and temporary workers every month.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Wm7ub60KAI

As Arizonans prepare to vote in critical Primary elections this summer, we want to make sure they will be looking at all candidates in terms of their stances on all these immigration issues.

By the way, you can feel free to spread these ads far and wide across the internet to further the mass public education.

KEY REASON RIGHT NOW FOR ALL THESE ACTIONS IS TO PUT MORE AMERICANS BACK TO WORK

We are doing these ads as part of the Coalition for the Future American Worker.

I appeared on four national TV networks this last week attempting to change the news media’s story from one of “getting tough against illegal aliens” to a story of “showing some love for our unemployed Americans.”

Our ads, our faxes, our phone alerts and our media appearances are not focused on what we are against but what we are for.

25 million U.S. workers who would like to have a full-time job can’t find one.

The national leaders of the Republican Party do not put those 25 million as a priority.

The Democratic leadership of Congress does not put those 25 million as a priority.

Pres. Obama does not put those 25 million as a priority.

BUT YOU DO! AND WE DO!

Keep the pressure on Congress to figure out that Arizona’s new law is about putting American back to work.

Put the pressure on your state legislators to follow Arizona’s lead.

Take every opportunity for action that we give you to shame any public figure who denigrates the people of Arizona for insisting on full-scale enforcement to reduce their illegal-alien population.

THANKS,

Yesterday, while hosting Mexican President Calderon,
Obama condemned the new Arizona immigration law saying
it was "a misdirected expression of frustration," and that
he was looking for a federal fix that "the nation could embrace."

The only thing Obama needs to be looking for is a copy of SB1070
to read. Because if he read the new law he'd quickly understand
that Arizonans are employing a federal fix by enforcing
existing federal laws.

But as we've already seen from Attorney General Holder and
Homeland Security Secretary Napolitano, reading the bill
before condemning it is the norm with this Administration...

And here's why!

Obama and his elitist cohorts are using the Arizona law
to paint their political opponents as racists and xenophobes
to accomplish two goals:

--to eliminate our border and introduce widespread
              amnesty
--to rally and prime their base for victories
              in November.

That's why Obama is posturing right now with Mexico's president -
no doubt briefing him with the talking points needed to
ratchet up the rhetoric against conservatives and the Tea
Party movement.

They believe that the new Arizona law gives them their best
opportunity to demonize and discredit us, and they are
putting on a grand show to mislead those not in the know!

Obama's actions and those of his Administration are utterly
despicable, and Boyd, I want you to tell him as much!

+ + Call the White House Today!

I'm urging ALL members of Grassfire Nation to call the White
House today, put the President and his Administration on
notice and express our frustration at him for condemning
SB1070 and siding with Mexico!

Help me tell Obama that we understand his political game, and
we simply aren't willing to allow him to disrespect the fine
people of Arizona, our Constitution or the millions of
patriots who are fighting against his socialist push.

Arizona-Style Rebellions Over Immigration Spread

Wednesday, 05 May 2010 07:59 PM

Article Font Size

By: David A. Patten

Legislators in nearly a dozen states are considering tough new laws against illegal immigration that mimic the Arizona measure that has triggered a firestorm of controversy nationwide.

The combination of polls showing increasing voter frustration with federal enforcement efforts, plus the growing fiscal pressure on states facing major budget problems, has emboldened conservative legislators to eye state-level reforms similar to those that Arizona GOP Gov. Jan Brewer recently signed into law.

"The intensity is still there. It's growing," says Ira Mehlman, spokesman for the Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR), a group that generally supports stronger border-control efforts.

"Whatever talk there is of any federal response is unfortunately the kind of response that most people oppose: Amnesty for illegal aliens, coupled with promises that 'We'll try to do better next time,'" Mehlman tells Newsmax. "And I don't think the American people are going to buy that. They were fooled once in 1986. George Bush tried to fool them again in 2007. And they said no."

The Arizona measure directs police to question lawful residency only after individuals have been stopped on reasonable suspicion of having violated another law. It directs police to verify residency if suspects are unable to produce documentation, provide a Social Security number, or otherwise establish their legal residency. The law has sparked widespread protests by pro-immigration groups nationwide.

Despite that backlash, conservative lawmakers in North Carolina, Maryland, Colorado, Missouri, Ohio, and several other states are considering following Arizona's lead via state legislation to stem the tide of illegal immigration. If nothing else, their support for further restrictions on illegal immigration indicates they see it as a winning political issue.

One reason state legislators aren't intimidated by threats of legal action from the Obama administration, as well as from a host of pro-immigrant groups: A plethora of polls suggesting state-level legislation, in the absence of stiffer federal enforcement and border control, would be very popular with voters. A few recent examples:

·                              A USA Today/Gallup poll released Wednesday shows that 9 out of 10 Americans say it is at least moderately important for the federal government to act this year to secure the borders and stop illegal immigration. Just over 60 percent say they are very concerned undocumented workers are putting an unfair burden on U.S. schools, hospitals, and social services.

·                              Almost 70 percent of voters in the South and 66 percent of voters in the Midwest — two regions that may well determine whether Democrats continue to control Congress — say the Arizona law is either "about right," or it doesn't go far enough, in combating the problem of illegal immigration.

·                              A recent Rasmussen poll found that 60 percent of voters nationwide support Arizona's law.

·                              Various polls that indicate between 64 percent and 70 percent of Arizona voters support the new law. After Brewer signed bill, her approval ratings in Arizona jumped 16 percent.

Experts say the polls partially reflect voter frustration with the economic burdens of undocumented workers, especially on cash-strapped states hit hard by unemployment and the weak economy.

Some costs, such as crime, are hard to gauge. Whether illegal workers are more likely to commit other crimes is frequently debated by experts of all political stripes.

According to FAIR,
Phoenix has the second-highest kidnapping rate in the world, second only to Mexico City. It adds that kidnappings and home invasions in Arizona rose 61 percent since 2005, although how much of this spike in violence is attributable to illegals is in dispute.

The impact on state budgets is measured more easily. FAIR states that the
Arizona's estimated 460,000 undocumented workers represent 37 percent of its uninsured population. The public cost of caring for those individuals: about $510 million a year.

"When the federal government fails to enforce our immigration laws," Mehlman says, "it is the taxpayers in
Arizona, or Maryland, or whatever state you happen to be living in who are then forced to pay for education, for healthcare, for other social services. They're the ones who have to deal with crime that may be associated with illegal immigrations. These burdens are felt at the state and local level."

Steven A. Camarota, research director for the nonprofit Center for Immigration Studies, gives the new law a guarded endorsement, providing that police are monitored to ensure traffic stops of Hispanics don't increase due to racial profiling.

Requiring identification after a traffic violation is just common sense, Camarota tells Newsmax. Without proper identification, a citation is virtually unenforceable anyway, he says.

"It seems like the law in many ways is well constructed, and it does some common sense things," Camarota says. "Especially the fact that anytime you arrest somebody, any time you have a citation, you have to determine their identity, or the arrest and the citation are largely meaningless. Especially in the case of a citation, it's just common sense … otherwise you have a situation where police pull somebody over and they let them go only if they're illegal. Who would think that's a good idea?"

Given the growing cost and unpopularity of illegal immigration, more and more state legislators are willing to push for tougher enforcement despite the controversy. A round up of state-level legislative and political activity:

California: The state assembly recently passed a resolution urging the federal government to fix the nation's broken immigration system, and the issue has become a hot one in the GOP gubernatorial primary. Former eBay CEO Meg Whitman opposes the Arizona law, although she supports the elimination of sanctuary cities and promises to build "an economic fence" to prevent employers from hiring undocumented workers. Her closest GOP rival, businessman Steve Poizner, dropped his opposition to the Arizona law after it was amended to reduce the risk it would lead to racial profiling. He now supports it, saying: "We are bankrupt. We are out of cash and we need to take some steps to stop the flow of people who are here illegally."

Colorado: Republican gubernatorial candidate Scott McInnis, also a former congressman, said he would support "very similar" legislation is elected governor. McInnis, a former police officer, supports laws mandating that all noncitizens should required to carry documents proving their legal status. Outgoing Democratic Gov. Bill Ritter said he would veto a law that mirrors Arizona's.

Florida: Support for tougher immigration laws is very strong in the Sunshine state. A Rasmussen poll released Wednesday shows that 62 percent of Florida voters "favor a law like Arizona’s that authorizes local police to stop and verify the immigration status of anyone they suspect of being an illegal immigrant. However, tea party favorite Marco Rubio, the Republican U.S. Senate candidate, has voiced serious reservations with the Arizona law.

Georgia: Former Congressman Nathan Deal, a Republican running for governor, says he would work to enact similar legislation. Border states have suffered "war-like conditions triggered by the violence of drug cartels," he says.

Maryland: In a state that used to issue driver's licenses to illegals, GOP State Delegate Pat McDonough has introduced a bill that he calls "a copy of the Arizona law." McDonough does not expect it to pass this session of the Legislature, but is surveying colleagues to gauge support.

Missouri: Republican State Rep. Mark Parkinson has submitted an Arizona-style bill to the Missouri House but says there probably isn't enough time to squeeze it through the Senate. He believes it will have a better chance in the next session.

Nebraska: In July, voters will rule on a proposal to ban the hiring of illegals or otherwise "harboring" them.

North Carolina: Groups opposed to illegal immigration have said there is an overwhelming likelihood that legislation similar to Arizona's will be filed. They probably don't have the votes to get the measure passed, however.

Oklahoma: A court has struck down key provisions of a law intended to discourage illegal immigration, while letting stand a requirement that employers use the E-Verify system to establish residency status before hiring an employee.

Ohio: State Rep. Courtney Combs, a Republican, recently wrote a letter to Gov. Ted Strickland and top state legislators urging that they enact strong new immigration laws. Strickland, a Democrat, said he would not sign such a bill. Combs hopes to circumvent Strickland by putting the question to the voters directly. "I have had so many people call and volunteer to help us get this on the ballot," Combs told CNSNews.com. "I firmly believe if we get this on the ballot, it will pass. That would be an amazing feat, for the people to override the governor."

Texas: Two lone star Republicans are planning to introduce Arizona-type measures. That probably won't sit well with Gov. Rick Perry, who has voiced his opposition to the Arizona measure. Rep. Debbie Riddle of Tomball and Rep. Leo Berman of Tyler both say they support the legislation.

Utah: GOP State Rep. Stephen Sandstorm says he has the votes he needs to pass a law that would require immigrants to carry proof of status, direct law officers to question people they have reason to believe may be in the country illegally, and would target businesses that hire or transport undocumented workers.

How many of these proposals are ultimately enacted is anybody's guess. "It will probably be sort of a mixed bag," Mehlman says. "I think some states will probably wait to see how all this shakes out in the courts."

Dear Friend,

It is unbelievable that a principal of an American school in California would have the audacity to call the American flag on a tee shirt "incendiary speech" and send the kids who wore these shirts home! I don't care if it was Cinco de Mayo or Bastille Day--these kids were punished for showing they were proud to be Americans!

Thank the Good Lord for Arizona. They have passed a law that, if embraced by the rest of the country, will put a stop to this outrageous trend away from patriotism.

Just look what this new law has already done. It has inspired Patriots from nearly every state to begin the work to get this law introduced in their state legislature or on the ballot so citizens can vote for it. And it has given an invaluable tool to the voter!  Now they only need to ask candidates: "Do you support Arizona's new immigration law?" Anything less than a solid "YES" and we know they cannot be trusted when amnesty comes down the pike!  And many Republican leaders are failing the test!  What better time to smoke these guys out than before their election!

And this tough new immigration law has forced the Open Border legislators and lobbyists to show their hand--and what is now clear is that the Hispanic caucus is in a full court press to get amnesty passed this year for the 20 million illegals living in this country! They cannot wait around for Arizona's law to spread like a wildfire across America!

Last Thursday night I called our immigration coalition together to begin the "Amnesty Watch."  Several key Senate and House staffers attended and informed us that they believe a post-election push--A Lame Duck Amnesty Bill--was a real threat! The logic is simple--if the Democrats don't get it passed this year, it won't happen again for 10 to 20 years with the changes expected in November. And in that time, dozens of states will be enforcing their own Arizona-like bills. When that happens, millions of illegal aliens will self deport. The problem will begin to solve itself ... with tough new enforced immigration laws in the states!

State Senator Russell Pearce, the author of Arizona's legislation, joined the meeting by phone and told us several law suits have been filed against the law, but none appear serious. It is still expected that a well-funded opponent like the ACLU, La Raza, or even the Justice Department might try to derail the new law using the courts. But they are unlikely to succeed! Not only is this law a replica of federal law (so how can it be unconstitutional?) but in 2004 the Supreme Court upheld police action similar to what is being called on in the bill.

Russell also expects the law will go into effect in late July, in spite of any law suits!!!  That's when the fun begins!  The estimated 460,000 illegal aliens in Arizona will begin moving--either going home or trying their luck in another state. Those states will then be forced to pass their own version of this bill--or be buried in illegal immigrants.

Tom has asked me to put together our plan of action and I wanted to share it with you.

We are talking to Patriots across the country, including Sheriff Richard Jones in Ohio, to review the feasibility of getting the Arizona law on their state ballots. It would be a mammoth effort, but it would send shock waves through the open-border crowd.  Americans would finally be taking the steps necessary to get control of our borders--in spite of Washington!!

Second, Team America is putting together a pledge for all candidates and elected officials to sign, in which they state their opposition to any and all amnesties and their support for Arizona's law. We will need your help to get these pledge cards in the hands of the candidates. We need to be absolutely certain that the candidates that win in November will vote "NO" on amnesty. And we need to force those in office to take a public position against amnesty before November. If they want to win they will say "No" to amnesty and are then less likely to turn on the voters weeks later in a lame duck session.

Third, Team America is supporting candidates that have the courage of their convictions, who will demand Washington secure the borders and enforce the laws, and who will always put their country first, even before their own personal interests. They are called Patriots and we are encouraged to tell you that there are so many of them this year.

Just this weekend two strong conservative candidates knocked 18-year incumbent and pro-amnesty Senator Bennett of Utah out of the primary!!! He was defeated by two solid conservatives who are now in a run-off--and both of them are solid on immigration! This is an outstanding development! Americans taking charge at every level to see that we take this country back from those who have been selling us to the cheapest bidder!

Friends, there is much to do to turn this country around, but the great news is we are doing it!! Arizona, Utah, even the tee-shirt wearing teenagers in California give me great hope that we will win. It is such an exciting time and I am so proud to be in this fight with you!

God Bless You!

Team America PAC

Dear Friend,

If you're like me, you're still recovering from the shocking display of corruption--the blatant abuse of power--that is part and parcel of the health care bill that passed yesterday. It is unnerving to think that the Democrats were so willing to sell this country out by allowing a bill so unmanageable, so unconstitutional, and so unsustainable that 38 states are already lining up to sue the federal government over its enactment. They lied about what was in it, they lied about what it will do and then they congratulated themselves on their victory, destroying the quality of our health care and sending our country spiraling deeper into a debt from which we may never recover.

The country is furious and demanding the bill be repealed, and attorneys general of 38 states are lining up to sue. There is hope. America is ready to fight and our job--yours and mine--is to provide the leaders. Only with true Patriots in Washington can we stop this bill from ever being enacted. The audacity of a federal government that, with no authority whatsoever, mandates that all its citizens buy a product is frightening. Not to mention passing a bill they know will bankrupt the nation--and they don't care!! If we don't stop them now, there is no telling where these left wing extremists will go next to take away our freedoms.

What we saw this weekend is the last gasp (or two) of a dying movement. America has rejected the Left's agenda and was preparing to eject its leaders in November. Obama and his fellow socialists are well aware that their days are numbered, so they set their sights on another takeover--this time the nation's health care industry, one sixth of our economy. All they needed to do was ignore the noise coming from the citizenry, open the federal purse and go in search of Democrat Congressmen willing to sell out their country.  They had no trouble finding them.

And with the taste of victory in their mouth, they will move again. This time their target is what some call comprehensive immigration reform--but what we know as amnesty for 15-20 million illegal aliens. And they won't stop there. They will include a massive guest worker program with it, which will bring millions more foreign workers into the country--workers who will turn into illegal aliens waiting for their amnesty. All this at a time when 25 million Americans are unemployed or underemployed--but Democrats aren't about creating jobs. They are focused on creating a socialist state--at any expense to her people.

Team America is watching this development and we will join with our friends at FAIR and Numbers USA to stop this from happening by keeping you informed and making Americans aware. I will be pulling together our immigration coalition which includes all the leaders of real immigration reform that so effectively stopped amnesty in 2006. Working together, we were able to coordinate our strategies and get the word to you and millions like you so you could take the necessary action. We will repeat all of this.

But, Friend, there is no more important activity right now than to recruit, encourage and support American patriots to run for office. We must take over Congress in November--it is our only hope of stopping this slide into socialism. I spoke with Tom Tancredo this weekend, and he said that with a new and courageous majority in Congress, one committed to returning this nation to the people, much can be done. For instance, they could add an amendment to every single budget bill stipulating that no funds in this bill can be used to implement any part of the health care bill. This, along with the courts, will hold up the bill until we can take back the Senate and the White House.

I continue to meet and talk with great, hard working candidates. They are knocking on doors, raising money, debating their opponents and have proven themselves ready to serve us in Washington. I can personally guarantee their commitment to responsible government and a balanced budget; and every one of them has a Tom Tancredo-approved stand on illegal immigration: secure border, enforcement of laws and never any amnesty. Team America is identifying our best and brightest, those who we know for certain will go to Washington and make the tough decisions to get this country back on track. We have a nation to save--it will take our strongest and our toughest on the front lines if we are to succeed. I hope you will help us get them elected!

Below you will find three more candidates worthy of our support. We are adding them to the many we have already endorsed and are committed to do whatever we can to get them elected. I hope you will join us!  It is going to take all of us working together if we are going to take the country back this year!

As always, you may contribute directly to the candidate or give to Team America. If you write the name of the candidate(s) that your contribution is intended for, we will send 100% of your contribution to their campaign. We have given a link to each candidate's website and a link to ours for your convenience.

Thanks you for all you do and please keep in the fight. America is depending on us--and so are our kids and grandkids.

Candidates that Deserve and Need our Support

**Indiana's John Hostettler, candidate for US Senate, had a perfect voting record in Congress and was one of our strongest and most principled leaders. As a U.S. Senator, John will be a totally dependable leader for our cause. Tom says, "While I served in Congress, I could always count on John Hostettler to be a leader in the fight for immigration control. He was instrumental in the defeat of amnesty in 2006. We need men like John in the Senate." John's primary opponent is former Senator Dan Coats, who had a terrible voting record on immigration, amnesty and importing foreign workers when he previously served in the Senate, earning a F- grade from the immigration control watchdog group, Numbers USA. That same group gave John Hostettler an A+ gradeHis website is http://www.johnhostettler.com if you would like to contribute; or you may go to the Team America site, putting John's name in the comment line. John is a good friend and I can guarantee he will be an outstanding Senator.

**North Carolina's Tim D'Annunzio, candidate for Congress, 8th Congressional District. Tim is a successful businessman, a fiscal conservative, and a man ready to fight to secure our borders and bring our nation back from the brink of bankruptcy. A newcomer to the political arena, Tim was asked why he was running for Congress: "I can no longer stand back and let the Washington elite destroy our individual dreams. I will be a different kind of United States Congressman ... the kind who is committed to preserving a better life for the next generation." Tim is a man with the courage of his convictions, and we need him in Washington.
Go to Tim's website or donate to Team America with Tim's name in the comment line. Please help us in this fight to elect Tim and take back America!

**Washington State's John Koster, candidate for Congress, 2nd Congressional District. I met with John last week at local Cosi's--I was in Washington, DC for a debate and since he was in town, we met for about an hour. He is as good a candidate as we have running--absolutely solid. John has been an active conservative for years and has a proven record as a state legislator. He is also a businessman. Here is a bit of what he had to say: "Our federal government has fallen into the hands of a President and Congress who are taking us into uncharted economic waters with incomprehensible spending and unconscionable deficits." Another: "Congress is on a course to destroy the finest health-care system in the world." And on immigration, John calls for secure borders, enforcing existing immigration laws, and he opposes all efforts to provide amnesty for illegal aliens. You can
contribute to John by going to his website (http://r20.rs6.net/tn.jsp?et=1103222483114&s=953&e=0013idgyF5DGZ_R9YL7GbExyg8kx3tUmluYpzk1efdQUIiigV1DzNvkHJkMxQSKwn0y26vBna9BxJh06QCWyRrRz8YuZm5U_vaVmrR9xxuHjkxEcDaXEKgG2vH6H0O00h5_) or again by using Team America's site. Remember to put John's name in the comment section to assure your contribution goes entirely to him.

Casualties of the Mexican Border War

On Monday, June 7, U.S. Border Patrol agents on bicycles were attempting to arrest two men illegally crossing the border from Mexico to the U.S. on the banks of the Rio Grande near El Paso. As they were detaining the two, one of whom had previously been deported for illegal entry, the agents were met with "large" rocks thrown by a group that had run back to the Mexican side of the muddy river bed.

While details of the incident are sketchy at this point, after agents unsuccessfully warned the group to stop the "barrage," shots were fired by an agent at the rock throwers and a 15-year-old Juarez boy, Sergio Adrian Hernandez Huereka, was killed.

Whatever his innocence or complicity, Sergio Adrian Hernandez Huereka is a casualty of the Mexican Border War. So, too, is an American policy not sufficiently implemented to meet the Mexican threat to the sovereignty and safety of this country and its citizens.

Immigration Balance in Congress May Be Shifting in Arizona Aftermath

The big stories of the week continue to circle around Arizona's new immigration enforcement law and the Congressional primary elections. Late last week, Attorney General Eric Holder admitted he had yet to read the bill followed by former Arizona Governor and current Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano who said this week that she hasn't read the bill.

Well, our very own Director of Government Relations Rosemary Jenks has read the bill and wrote up a thorough and straightforward analysis of the law formerly known as SB1070. We have replaced our former Fact Sheet on the law with Rosemary's detailed analysis, which you can find in her new blog and on the "State/Local Policies" page under our "Enforcement" menu.

On the election front, another incumbent with a poor immigration grade lost his bid for the Democratic nomination in Pennsylvania, and an Immigration Champion won the Republican nomination for Senate in Arkansas. Read Roy's blog for his full election analysis.

While voters are putting pressure on incumbents at the polls, our Local Power team is putting pressure on them in their home districts. Our "S.T.O.P. Amnesty in 2010! Countdown to Independence Day" is still recruiting volunteers in key states across the country. If you're interested in helping, email Jenny Magyari at Jenny@NumbersUSA.com.

Dear Friend,

There has been a lot of talk around the country about the way President Obama forced ObamaCare into law against  the wishes of the majority of Americans.  Now, it seems his administration is trying to reach for a comprehensive immigration reform package that will undoubtedly include amnesty provisions.

Although few details about the proposed legislation are certain, one thing we do know that is that all the usual proponents of amnesty for illegal immigrants are playing leading roles in shaping the policy.  The pro-amnesty crowd has been asking for citizenship rights for illegal immigrants over the last three years, and they have really turned up the pressure to pass some type of amnesty provision into law.

Too many in Congress continue to present the American people with a false choice in solving the illegal immigration problem - give illegal aliens amnesty or round them up and deport them en masse.

As the Chairman of the U.S. Senate Border Security and Enforcement First Immigration Caucus, I believe we have a viable alternative to that false choice:  addressing our nation's immigration problems with attrition through enforcement.  Providing mass amnesty to the current crop of illegals living in the country will not prevent future illegal immigration problems from returning and, frankly, rewards those who ignored our immigration policies while punishing those who went through the formal and proper channels.

While proponents of this legislation hope to move it this year, rest assured I will continue to raise awareness and fight against the process that tries to force any amnesty agenda on the American people against their will.

Sincerely,

David Vitter
U.S. Senator

As local and state officials continue to work with BP, the Coast Guard and federal agencies to contain the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico, we also pray for the families and co-workers of those who were lost in the explosion at the Deepwater Horizon rig.  I'm committed to finding out what went wrong so we can make rigs safer for those who do the important work of producing our nation's energy supplies.  I'm also working to bring relief to fishermen and others along the coast whose livelihoods have been affected by the spill.

Although I am certainly focused on the difficult situation facing the Louisiana coast, I'm also keeping an eye on legislation at the federal level and fighting for what's best for our state.  As Congress prepares to deal with the issue of illegal immigration, I continue to advocate for border security and enforcement of our current laws without giving amnesty to those who are here illegally.

Read below to find out how I'm fighting for you on these critical issues.

REAL IMMIGRATION REFORM, NOT AMNESTY

Although much controversy has surrounded a recent Arizona law that enables local authorities to enforce federal immigration laws, no one should be surprised by this response.  Arizona is simply doing what the federal government has refused to do for years, leading to a crisis as the state has seen an influx of thousands and thousands of illegal immigrants.  As Congress prepares to debate an immigration bill, we must find a solution that secures our borders first and enforces our nation's laws without granting amnesty to those who are here illegally.  The American people have made it clear that this is what they want.  You can read here about my work as the chairman of the Border Security and Enforcement First Immigration Caucus

230,671 Faxes to Support Arizona's SB1070!

In last week's newsletter, we gave you a list of actions you can take to help support Arizona and its new immigration enforcement law, SB1070. Most of the actions didn't involve faxing, but since last week's newsletter, you've sent 230,671 faxes!!

If you didn't see new faxes pop up on your this week, that's not a bad thing. It simply meant that none of your local and/or state officials spoke out against the Arizona law. But in places like San Francisco, Los Angeles, Oakland, Sacramento, St. Paul, Seattle, New York, and Washington D.C., your leaders declared boycotts, and you gave them a harsh response with your 230,671 faxes.

If you haven't done anything to help support Arizona, there's a list of suggested actions in the right hand column, including our brand new petition. Sign the petition and pass it around to at least 10 of your friends or family members. Most of the open-borders groups as well as the massive MoveOn.org have petitions against Arizona.

Outside of Arizona, several state lawmakers have announced intentions to introduce legislation similar to SB1070. Pennsylvania became the first state to officially offer legislation for its state legislature to consider. And yesterday, Sen. Chuck Schumer, who is drafting the Amnesty legislation in the Senate, urged Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer to postpone the start of SB1070. Gov. Brewer responded with a simple no.

Stay tuned for details next week on our Local Power Team's 8-week campaign called "S.T.O.P. Amensty in 2010! Countdown to Independence Day" intended to stop the Reid/Schumer/Menendez framework in its tracks. The Local Power Team needs a minimum of 10 volunteers from every state to coordinate activities. Please email Jenny@NumbersUSA.com and let's get moving on this.

In the Crosshairs

Mike Piccione, Editor

Hey Gunners,

Do you think illegal immigrants have too much power over our federal government? Hundreds of thousands of illegal immigrants shut down city streets and march knowing that our government is powerless to stop them.

What is domestic terrorism if not systematic overrunning of our borders? We have 37,500 troops ready to protect the South Korean border. Our government should consider the protection of our border with equal urgency as they do the Korean border.

Amnesty will happen and let's not pretend it won't because both parties want it to happen. So the big question is: how and when will we shut down social services that are bankrupting us? Or do we fear our streets will burn if we cut welfare?

The
UK is electing a new leader. The UK debates had two big issues: illegal immigration and entitlement spending. Sound familiar? The generosity of illegal immigration and entitlement to unearned benefits has our leaders fiddling while our culture burns. Last one out grab the flag.

The Front Sight Training Academy is the sponsor this week of Guns & Patriots. Learn about what they offer, it can save your life. In a country where a bomb in
Times Square happens on a day when illegals march to show their force over our government being able to defend yourself and your family is not such a bad idea. Please visit Front Sight.

Government

Secure the border first

"The American president has the power to control America's borders if he wants to, but George W. Bush and Barack Obama did not and do not want to, and for the same reason, and we all know what it is. The fastest-growing demographic in America is the Hispanic vote, and if either party cracks down on illegal immigration, it risks losing that vote for generations. But while the Democrats worry about the prospects of the Democrats and the Republicans about the well-being of the Republicans, who worries about America? No one. Which the American people have noticed, and which adds to the dangerous alienation -- actually it's at the heart of the alienation -- of the age. In the past four years, I have argued in this space that nothing can or should be done, no new federal law passed, until the border itself is secure. That is the predicate, the common sense first step. Once existing laws are enforced and the border made peaceful, everyone in the country will be able to breathe easier and consider, without an air of clamor and crisis, what should be done next. ... Not everything has to be settled right away. Only controlling the border has to be settled right away. Instead, our national establishments deliberately allow the crisis to grow and fester, ignoring public unrest and amusing themselves by damning anyone's attempt to deal with the problem they fear to address. Why does the federal government do this? Because so many within it are stupid and unimaginative and don't trust the American people. Which of course the American people have noticed." --columnist Peggy Noonan

Immigration Fight Heats Up

As a nation of immigrants, Americans have struggled with border laws for 200 years.

For much of the 20th century immigration was controlled by a system of complicated quotas, restricting the number of legal immigrants by nationality and assigning over two-thirds of all quota numbers to Britain, Ireland, and Germany while sharply limiting immigration from Southern Europe, Asia, and Africa.

After a 40-year campaign by minority groups for reform of federal immigration laws, the origins quota system was abolished in 1965.

As the country debates changing immigration laws once again, we took a closer look at how the rules have changed throughout history.

Democrats unveiled a 26-page proposal on immigration Thursday evening that closely follows a bipartisan draft hashed out by Sens. Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) and Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) earlier this year.

Click here to read the seven main points in the bill.

Read more on our blog: Tea parties take on immigration. Some conservative activists are pushing other state legislatures to adopt Arizona's provisions. They also oppose the Democratic bill in Congress. ... Opponents call for Arizona boycott. Activists are trageting the state's major-league baseball team, the Arizona Diamondbacks. ... It's not the first time a state has been boycotted. ... Supporters, meantime, hope to counter the boycott. ... Student activists are becoming the face of the pro-immigration fight. Four activists walked from Miami to Washington, D.C.

Take a Stand: Immigration

The Democratic proposal focuses on border security first, including expanding the number of border patrol officers and deporting illegal immigrants in prison.

But it also creates a pathway to citizenship for the 12 million illegal immigrants already in the country.

A person would begin by passing a criminal background check and paying pending fees and taxes. Eight years later, they could apply for legal resident status by demonstrating, among other things, English-language skills.

Opponents criticize this measure as "amnesty," but supporters say it is a necessary part of the plan.

The violence continues to escalate in the Arizona border region where a deputy sheriff was shot with an AK-47 by drug smugglers on Friday. Recent hidden camera video shows armed narco-terrorists caught on tape by motion sensor cameras trafficking drugs at the same location where the Pinal County deputy sheriff was ambushed.

This is one in a series of videos from the area captured by cameras covertly placed by concerned
Arizona citizens who say they want to expose what’s really happening at the lawless border.

Homeland Security Secretary Napolitano says the border is more secure now than it’s ever been and everything that can be done to secure the border is already being done.

Please CALL Major League Baseball and Tell Them You Hope They Will Keep the All-Star Game in Phoenix!

Dear NumbersUSA Activist,

As you are aware, several pro-amnesty cities and organizations are supporting boycotts of
Arizona due to the state's passage of SB 1070 -- the state's immigration enforcement legislation. These states and locales include California, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Oakland, Washington, D.C., New York City, and St. Paul, Minnesota. The newest target for the boycott advocates is Major League Baseball (MLB).

Next year, MLB is planning on holding its annual All-Star Game in
Phoenix and pro-illegal alien activists are urging them to move the game. This movement was started by Rep. Jose Serrano (D-NY), who, in a letter to MLB Commissioner Bud Selig, said, "This anti-immigrant law is unjust, wrongheaded, mean-spirited and unconstitutional.... It is important that everyone who believes in justice and our national spirit of decency speak out against this measure.... MLB has a very loud megaphone, and their rejection of Arizona's action would be an important demonstration to Arizona that we do not tolerate such displays of intolerance in our nation." Clearly, Rep. Serrano is not familiar with the law and is simply trying to help illegal aliens.

Sadly, the calls for a boycott do not end there. Michael Weiner, the executive director of the Major League Baseball Players Association, has made it clear that his organization opposes
Arizona's bill because of the "international players" who live in Arizona and travel through Arizona. He neglected to mention that MLB's international players are not affected by the law because they are here legally.

What you can do:

1) Please call Major League Baseball at (212) 931-7800 begin_of_the_skype_highlighting              (212) 931-7800      end_of_the_skype_highlighting and urge them to ignore the calls for a boycott. Talking Points are below.

2) Please call the Major League Baseball Players Association at (212) 826-0808 begin_of_the_skype_highlighting              (212) 826-0808      end_of_the_skype_highlighting and ask them to ignore calls to join the boycott. Be sure to remind them that MLB's international players are not affected by
Arizona's law because they are in this country legally. Additional talking points are below.

3) Please call your favorite and/or local MLB teams and urge them to oppose the calls for a boycott. You may click here to see a list of all teams and their phone

What I Told CBS News Tonight About Arizona Law -- It's About Jobs

By Roy Beck, Saturday, April 24, 2010

I just came back from taping an interview for the national CBS nightly news regarding the new Arizona immigration-enforcement law. My main point was that states are going to keep passing laws like these as long as the federal government allows 7 million illegal alien to continue to hold jobs and keep millions of Americans unemployed.

Vacation in Arizona This Year -- But E-Verify Your Hotel

By Roy Beck, Wednesday, April 28, 2010

If you have thought about traveling to Arizona in the next couple of years, wouldn't this be a good year to do it? With open-borders groups calling for boycotts of Arizona, why not vacation in Arizona to support the 70% of voters, the governor and the majority of the state legislators who have shown the nation the courage to do what it takes to move illegal foreign workers out their jobs and state to make room for unemployed legal Arizonans? But make sure that any hotel or resort you visit is using E-Verify.

New Senate Bill Is Same Old Amnesty With More Lies (as I noted on PBS NewsHour tonight)

By Roy Beck, Friday, April 30, 2010

Most mainstream media are reporting with a straight face that Sen. Reid's new amnesty outline is primarily an enforcement bill that wouldn't allow legalization of illegal aliens until our borders are secure. This is such a farce on several fronts, as I noted on PBS NewsHour tonight. The "Democrats-only" bill would IMMEDIATELY give 11-19 million illegal aliens the legal right to live in the U.S. and to hold a U.S. job. IMMEDIATELY!

Boycott Arizona? No way, It’s a Cheap Publicity Stunt

By Chad MacDonald, Friday, April 30, 2010

On the day before Gov. Jan Brewer of Arizona signed SB1070 into law, Rep. Raul Grijalva (D-Ariz.) called for a boycott of his own state. He opposes the new immigration enforcement law. The proposed boycott of Arizona is a cheap publicity stunt. It is counter-productive to the U.S. worker and it is completely illogical. I flew to Arizona today and spent $100 in Phoenix on Arizona made products. I feel good about it and might plan a family vacation to Scottsdale this summer.

Help Counter Arizona Boycotts, while Democratic Leaders Calculate their Next Move

In the aftermath of last week's passage and signing of Arizona's tough immigration enforcement bill, Democratic Leaders in Wasington can't seem to make up their minds on how to proceed. While one of Arizona's own House Members called for a national boycott of his own state, the Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and Pres. Barack Obama couldn't keep their stories straight.

  • After the bill's passage, Pres. Obama and Reid called for immediate action to reform immigration
  • But after Reid lost his lone Republican supporter, he backed off
  • On Wednesday, Reid flipped his stance and helped circulated an Amnesty outline
  • Later that day, Pres. Obama began backing off Amnesty during an informal press gathering with reporters
  • On Thursday, Reid and five Democratic Senators held a press conference to unveil an Amnesty plan, which Pres. Obama offered his support

Confused yet?

While the President and Senate figure out what they want to do, there are plenty of new actions for you to take in support of the Arizona law. Read Chad and Roy's blogs about visiting Arizona this year to help counteract any boycott efforts against the state, and look to the long list of actions to the right.

Thanks,

Actions to Support Arizona

§                                 Phone your favorite baseball team and tell it to insist on keeping next year's All-Star Game in Arizona (to counter Rep. Serrano's campaign to move the game)

§                                 If the Arizona Diamondbacks play in your area, look for ways to show signs of support even as you root for your home team. The pro-amnesty crowd plans to show a lot of hatred toward the team everywhere it plays

§                                 Click here to read our Fact Sheet that dispels the media myths about the Arizona law and equips you to explain the truth to friends, family and fellow citizens.

§                                 Click here to let us know of any person or organization who has even threatened a boycott of Arizona.

§                                 Watch for fax and phone action notes that will target anybody threatening a boycott. (We have several up already.)

§                                 Check with organizations with which you are associated that might be having conferences, conventions or other activities in Arizona the next couple of years. If they are, contact them and tell them how much it means to you that they continue their Arizona reservations.

§                                 If you have any influence over meetings that might take place over the next year, encourage that they occur in Arizona.

§                                 If you have thought about vacationing in the Southwest the next few years, consider going to Arizona this year.

§                                 Watch for a list of cities, organizations and businesses that you may want to boycott because they are boycotting Arizona.

§                                 Send faxes on your Action Board, asking your governor and state legislators to imitate Arizona in making it difficult for illegal workers to stay in the state.

§                                 Send faxes to your 3 Members of Congress telling them that you support the Arizona law. It is important that they feel the fact that Rasmussen shows Americans support the law by 2-1 margin.

Government & Politics

Arizona Immigration Brouhaha

Did these guys just come to work?

Last week, Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer, a Republican, signed a tough new law designed to crack down on the flood of illegal immigration in the state and the violence and mayhem that has accompanied it. Political mayhem is the price of the law's enactment.

Stepped-up enforcement of the border in California and Texas has funneled much of the illegal alien traffic and cross-border smuggling through Arizona. A sharp increase in crime has resulted, with Phoenix now being the kidnap capital of the United States. Ranchers near the border live under a state of siege, but demands that the federal government take aggressive remedial action have been unavailing. The recent murder of Rob Krentz, a kind-hearted rancher who often assisted desperate immigrants abused and abandoned by their "coyote" guides, prompted widespread outrage at the federal government's fundamental failure to protect its citizens against a dangerous foreign invasion.

The race-baiting grievance mongers wasted no time in denouncing the law. Vandals smeared refried beans in the shape of a swastika on the Arizona Capitol building (which we find to be an incredibly strange mixed message). Some leftist church leaders denounced the law as "hateful." Race hustler Jesse Jackson called it "terrorism." Calling it "stupid," "an embarrassment" and "racist," Pima County Sheriff Clarence Dupnik (Tucson) said he would refuse to enforce it.

Latino activist and far-left Congressman Raul Grijalva (D-AZ) called for a boycott of his own state, saying, "I support some very targeted economic sanctions on the state of Arizona. We will be asking national organizations -- civil, religious, political -- not to have conferences and conventions in the state of Arizona. There has to be an economic consequence to this action and to this legislation." We're sure Arizona's 2.3 million unemployed will thank Grijalva for his principled stand.

Meanwhile, in a stunning display of hypocrisy, the government of Mexico issued a travel advisory and expressed concern about the rights of its citizens in the United States. Of course, Mexico plays by much more stringent rules when dealing with its own immigration issues.

These critics either haven't read the law or, more likely, don't want to be bothered with reality. Among other things, Arizona's new law makes it a state crime for people to be in Arizona if they are in the United States illegally. If the police have an otherwise lawful encounter with someone, and if they have "reasonable suspicion" that the person is in the United States illegally, the police are required to ask for documentation of immigration status. An Arizona driver's license is presumptive proof of lawful status.

The law specifically forbids police from basing their actions solely on someone's race or ethnicity. It also compels the police to base their "reasonable suspicion" on criteria that are permissible under the U.S. and Arizona constitutions. Moreover, when she signed the bill, Gov. Brewer issued an executive order directing additional training specifically to avoid racial profiling when the law is enforced.

The new law, which in many places quotes federal law verbatim, was enacted because of the failure at the federal level to enforce those same laws. None of this matters to the Left. With tactics straight out of Saul Alinsky's "Rules for Radicals," they have demonized everyone who dares stand up for responsible enforcement of our laws and for the protection of our citizens.

Meanwhile, Barack Obama declared that the nation may not have the "appetite" for an immigration fight this year, so he removed the issue from his agenda. That's a relief.

Quote of the Week

"So Arizona passes a tough law against illegal immigration and suddenly they've got Washington's attention. One poll finds 70 percent of Arizona voters support this new law, so, 'Hey, maybe we better do something, too.' And like the lemmings they are when they smell a chance to score some political points, and some of them need a lot of help with the midterms coming up, there is now talk of rushing immigration reform through Congress. President Obama called the Arizona law 'misguided.' What's misguided, Mr. President, is the federal government's ongoing refusal to enforce the laws that are already on the books. Read the Arizona law. Parts of it are word-for-word the same as the federal statutes which continue to be all but ignored. Now we'll hear all sorts of blathering from our Washington gerbils about the need for a new federal law. There'll be news conferences and interviews and committee hearings and draft legislation and polling -- all the usual carnival acts that accompany any hot button Washington issue. Instead of simply closing the borders and enforcing the existing law so they could turn their attention to something like the national debt and the fact that the country is bankrupt, instead we're going to get this freak show. Washington's position on illegal immigration is patently dishonest from the top down. No enforcement, no border security, just pandering to the Hispanic voters and the corporations that hire the illegals. And then, when one of our states that's being ravaged by the presence of 460,000 illegal aliens inside its borders does something about it, the president says that's misguided. What a shame." --CNN commentator Jack Cafferty

Team America PAC
Dear Friend,

On Friday I am going to have several new candidates to endorse--more patriots who deserve our support, but I wanted to update you on a recent development.

The Republican establishment has spent the last several months trying to capture the Tea Party movement. Their front man, former congressman Dick Armey, has been selling himself as the group's lead organizer. What a joke! Dick Armey is no more Tea Party material than my poodle.

Dick is nothing more than a "when in Rome" kind of guy--a go-to, establishment republican when he was in Washington, a big time corporate lobbyist when he left, and now a leader of the Tea Party regulars?  Right!

And if you have any doubts, consider what he had to say about our Chairman Tom Tancredo this month.

In an interview with Charlie Rose, Armey said: "I tell you, I was for example not really happy to see Tom Tancredo calling himself a tea party guy."  Why?  Because of "his harsh and uncharitable and mean-spirited attitude on the immigration issue."

But Tom is a genuine hero of the Tea Party--he received three standing ovations when he spoke at their convention--the first one when he walked on stage. Why? Because, unlike Mr.Armey, Tom spent 10 years fighting for American workers and families when he was in Congress--and against Armey and buddies.

In a speech at the National Press Club, Armey actually condemned today's Republicans for their stand against illegal immigration.  "Who in the Republican Party was the genius who said now that we have identified the fastest-growing demographic in America, let's go out and alienate them?"

Spoken like a true pandering politician!

He went on: "When I was Republican leader, I saw to it that Tom Tancredo could not get on a stage because I saw how destructive he was. Republicans have to get off this goofiness. Ronald Reagan said, 'Tear down this wall.'  Tom Tancredo said 'Build that wall.'  Who's right? America is not a nation that builds wall. America is a nation that opens doors, and we should be that."

Tom destructive! What audacity! Americans everywhere are paying royally for the cost of illegal immigration, so Dick's corporate buddies have access to cheap labor. And he has the gall--to criticize Tom when he fights for those Americans

We shouldn't be too surprised.  Armey showed his true colors long before this. In 2006, Armey referred to Tom Tancredo as the "cheerleader of jerkiness in the immigration debate."  That was the year we stopped Congress from passing a massive amnesty from becoming law, thanks to Tom's invaluable leadership.

Tea Party regulars need to be warned--Dick Armey is a fraud. He may talk a good game about responsible government but I ask you: what is responsible about uncontrolled illegal immigration that steals American jobs, burdens our schools and hospitals, brings drugs and gangs into our communities and costs taxpayers dearly

Friends, spread the word. We need to let Armey know that the Tea Party movement is about getting rid of open border, pro-amnesty establishment politicians like Dick Armey, not about embracing them.  That's exactly what Team America is about . . . and with your help, we'll do just that!

I'll be in touch again later this week.

Warm regards,

Bay Buchanan

CPAC convention shows that cheap-labor GOP controlling conservative stars

THERE ARE ALWAYS IMMIGRATION ACTIONS YOU CAN TAKE FOR FREE AT www.NumbersUSA.com.

DEAR CONSERVATIVE MEMBERS OF NUMBERSUSA,

It looks like even the conservative national leaders are pulling back from doing anything about immigration.

Most of the spotlighted conservative leaders at the giant CPAC convention this weekend showed that they are far more interested in the feelings of Republican Party major donors than in offering help for 25 million Americans who can't find a full-time job.

Americans might have hoped that finally at this meeting there would be a sign of true leadership in stopping the massive importation of new foreign workers during a jobs depression. But on that topic, hope was as scarce as at the Obama White House.

But reports from those at the convention (I wasn't there) indicated that the thousands of (mostly young) conservative attendees seemed to have a much better grasp of what the country needs on immigration.

They exploded into a standing ovation when a freshman congressman on Saturday finally broke the taboo and stated emphatically:

"We need to lock down the border and enforce visas, reject amnesty and enforce our current laws, get rid of our rewards and incentives to be here illegally, mandate E-Verify . . . . "

-- Congressman
Jason Chaffetz (R-Utah)

For three days, one star speaker after another from Congress, from the media, from the conservative pantheon and from potential presidential hopefuls glaringly avoided immigration when given the microphone in the big room.

The mood for the convention had been set even before the opening of the annual extravaganza for conservative activists when some of the inside leadership of the convention made a big news splash with the argument that conservatives should stop talking about limiting immigration (and should support some kind of amnesty) if the Republican Party is to have a decent chance at winning elections in the future.

Read the rest of my blog at this link.

Friends, the old-time elites of the Republican Party have shown over the weekend that they are gaining control of the Tea Party movement message (more about that tomorrow) and have already largely gained control at the CPAC conservative leadership. They are determined to keep conservative citizen movements from pushing for immigration reductions.

If you are concerned about this trend, I hope you will forward this email to all of your conservative lists and friends.

And remember, that there are always immigration actions you can take for free at
www.NumbersUSA.com.

THANKS,

Dear Friend,

The news is just so exciting--our friend, JD Hayworth, has thrown his hat into the race against Senator John McCain, the Darth Vader of our movement! But just consider: the Republicans' number one leader of open borders is facing a primary challenge! It just doesn't get better than this, and Team
America is ready to do everything possible to see that Mr. Amnesty is defeated!

McCain knows JD can beat him. So much so that in an attempt to scare JD, McCain ran negative ads against him during JD's radio show, before JD was even a candidate! But this classless act backfired. JD became all the more determined to take on his Party's leader.

I spoke with JD's campaign today and they told me that after announcing this week, they went on a 10-stop state tour. The crowds were amazing everywhere they went!

This is a race we will be watching everyday--and doing everything we can to help JD defeat McCain. If a guy as powerful as John McCain can be beat by a candidate running against McCain's amnesty bills, it will shut down the amnesty industry!

Team
America is so thrilled to support JD and we hope you will throw your support behind him as well. We need to show him we are with him! Will you help him?

Go directly to JD's site to contribute. Or use Team America's site and write "JD" on the comment line, and we will forward 100% of your contribution to his campaign. We will keep you up to date on JD's progress.

I also wanted to introduce you to another Arizonan with whom I spent an hour this morning. He is Jesse Kelly, a candidate for Congress in the district south and east of
Tucson. When I asked why he was running, he said, "Our country is in terrible shape and we have to do something about it." He got that right!

Jesse Kelly is 28 years old, a war hero (a
U.S. Marine combat vet), and he has never run for office. After returning home from Iraq, he went to work in the family business, but couldn't sit back and watch this county deteriorate another day.  So he decided to try and get to Washington to see if he could help get us out of this mess.

Let me tell you--Jesse is exactly what we need in Congress! He is a fiscal conservative who believes the borders must be secured with a double fence and the laws must be enforced. This "border hawk' will be a leader in Congress--of this I am certain

Jesse is an aggressive, determined young man, and he is anything but establishment--he already endorsed JD Hayworth for Senate against John McCain, although many advised him to stay out of that race. He just told them he had to be "true to himself," and went right up on the stage with JD during his announcement tour to endorse him!

Team
America is going all out for Jesse as well--contributing, raising money for him and travelling to Arizona on his behalf. We need Jesse to win, and he definitely can--both in the primary and the general. And when he does, Jesse will replace the incumbent pro-amnesty (grade F) Democrat! It's a win-win for America.

I hope you will give generously to Jesse's campaign. If you would rather go to Team America's website and write "Jesse" on the comment line, we will gladly send Jesse's campaign 100% of your contribution.

We have an amazing number of terrific candidates this year! It makes me all the more certain we can take back our country. Team
America will continue to review the races and let you know when we find a gem. And we will keep you informed of their progress.

I must ask if you would also make a contribution to Team America. We dipped deeply into our coffers this week to support our candidates and want to do more next week, but we need your help. Getting our candidates to
Washington is the only way I know of saving this country. That is why I ask for your help.

Thank you for being part of this effort, and giving hope to the idea that we can overthrow the establishment of both parties and pull this country back from the edge of darkness.

Until next week,

Bay Buchanan

Three More States Protect American Jobs by Advancing E-Verify Legislation

It was another great week for us on the state level! Kentucky and Virginia each took big steps toward passing mandatory E-Verify for state agencies and contractors. And the Minnesota House approved an E-Verify amendment to a stimulus bill. Thanks to all our activists in these three states whose phone calls and faxes made a difference.

Congress will be back in town next week, and the Senate will begin work on a Jobs bill, so make sure you check with us early next week for any faxing/calling opportunities to ensure jobs created go to American workers and legal immigrants.

Three House Members have taken the lead on protecting American Jobs. Reps. Lamar Smith (R-Texas), Gary Miller (R-Calif.) and Sue Myrick (R-N.C.) have formed the Reclaim American Jobs Caucus. Their goal is to raise public awareness of the connection between illegal immigration and unemployment, pressure the Obama Administration to vigorously enforce the laws against the employment of illegal aliens, work to implement legislation that will protect U.S. jobs from the impact of illegal immigration (especially to make E-Verify mandatory) and work to defeat legislation that will put U.S. jobs at risk from the impact of illegal immigration (especially to defeat amnesty).

If your Member of Congress hasn't already become part of this Caucus, there's a new fax on you Action Board urging them to join.

Thanks,

Best Bayh Replacement on Immigration? Maybe a Dem Over GOP Candidate Coats or Pence

By Roy Beck, Tuesday, February 16, 2010 Sen. Evan Bayh's (D-Ind.) surprise retirement announcement sets up the possibility that the more restrictionist candidate in the general election to replace him may be the Democrat. . .

53% of Immigrant Families on Welfare!

By Jim Robb, Thursday, February 18, 2010 I'm sure you were as shocked as I to read the new findings that . . . . . . 53% of immigrant households with children collected welfare from at least one government program in 2008. These programs include food stamps, Medicaid, and free school lunches. And yes, that huge number also includes legal immigrants. Here are six things you can do TODAY to fight this outrage.

In the Crosshairs

Mike Piccione, Editor

Hey Gunners,

We have some hot issues this week. Oliver North is writing about gays in the military in reaction to Obama deciding that the military would be better if it were more gay. Read up so you can decide.

I’m very pleased to introduce Jim Robb of NumbersUSA who is writing for us this week on the subject of illegal immigration.

Last week I met Jim at his office and asked him what we can do to get illegal immigration back in the spotlight. He stepped right up to the plate with an article and a commitment to do whatever he can in this fight. But get ready for this folks: Jim also agreed to a mini town-hall meeting. Jim will be online and responding to comments from 1:00 – 2:00 EST today, Tuesday, February 9th. Here is your chance to get online with an expert. Just click on Jim’s article to get started. This should be very interesting. Get involved people.

Last year I surveyed our online readers and illegal immigration was the #1 concern they had for our country. My article has the analysis and some of my not so politically correct commentary. You are welcome to leave your comments there too.

Join our Facebook Fan Pages: Click here for NumbersUSA | Click here for Guns & Patriots.

Check out this week's video, it's great!

This should be an interesting week gunners. Thanks for reading Guns & Patriots.

TEAM AMERICA

Dear Friend,

As promised in our last email, here is the link to Tom's opening remarks at the Tea Party Convention (http://www.therockymountainfoundation.org/tomtancredosjournal.html) -- you can see for yourself the comments that sent the media over the edge!

Enjoy!

Dear Friend,

The other night, Tom gave the opening remarks at the Tea Party Convention in
Nashville. And the controversy was immediate. Not with attendees, let me clarify; they gave Tom three standing ovations.

He was so great! Speaking from his heart, as Tom always does, he spoke of the Founding Fathers and how they were part of a country divided into three groups--the Patriots, the Tories, and those who didn't care. It is no different today, Tom told the crowd. Today's Patriots, including the attendees of this convention, are fighting for our Republic, our religion and our civilization.

But those that won this election, Obama and his Democratic cronies in
Washington, will bring about the destruction of our Republic if they have their way. And then there are those who don't want to get involved in the battle.

We can't worry about those who don't care, Tom said, we must focus on winning this fight. We can do it, but only if we give it everything we have, and not give up until we have won. The stakes are too high for us to do less. But it can be done, and the great spontaneous uprising that has been spawned by Obama and his left wing policies proves we can win!

Tom called for the
US to change the law on who can and can not vote. He said in this past election, people who couldn't even spell "vote" or say it in English voted in our election and they voted for Obama, a "committed socialist ideologue." He called for "Civics Literacy" tests for all citizens who want to vote.

It was this paragraph that got most of the press' attention. The media still can't abide any reference to Obama as a Socialist and they were laying in wait to characterize the Tea Party as racist and extremist. But there is no denying the fact that President Obama is a "committed socialist ideologue!"

And no matter how radical the Left attempts to portray Tom, the Tea Party or Americans who went to the town hall meetings and rallies and voted to throw out the Democrats in Virginia, New Jersey and Massachusetts, they can't change the fact that the revolution has begun. And Tom and Team America is going to do everything we can to keep it rolling, and we will not stop until American Patriots have taken the reins of power from the establishment politicians in both parties.

And I know we can count on you to be right by our sides in this battle for the heart and soul of our nation. Tom has been asked by a number of Tea Party leaders to speak to their state conventions and he has agreed to go wherever he can help build this movement.

We will let you know as soon as Tom's speech is up on YouTube, so you can see it for yourself.

I spent several days this week speaking with candidates and their campaigns. I am so impressed with the character, integrity and commitment of these Patriots who are bravely running to replace the arrogant, big-spending career politicians who are destroying this country. Most of those which Team
America will be endorsing have never held public office!!

One who has held public office, but we're thrilled to endorse, is one of our heroes-the Mayor of
Hazleton, PA, Lou Barletta. This time Lou is headed all the way to Washington where he will emerge as a national champion of real immigration reform as well as fiscal responsibility and smaller, leaner government. If you want to contribute to him, go to his website or give your contribution directly to Team America, and put Lou's name on the comment line. As always, we will send 100% of your contribution to Lou's campaign on your behalf.

Beginning this week you will be hearing more about Lou and the other fantastic candidates we are endorsing--and this year it will include some terrific Senate candidates. I am so encouraged by those who are running--they are boldly outspoken on controversial issues including immigration. I am truly hopeful about the future--with our help I know many of these Patriots will go to
Washington and we will be that much closer to taking back our country from the career politicians.

It is an exciting time and Tom and I are sincerely grateful to be able to have your support for all that we do.

My sincerest thanks,

Bay Buchanan

A Populist Program to Create Jobs

by Bay Buchanan

Even before Obama's State of the Union, Democrats were scrambling to change their priorities from health care to jobs.

They realized  that Scott Brown's victory in Massachusetts represented a nationwide populist response against big government personified in Obamacare, and that voters are wondering why they are busy putting America into debt rather than dealing with the 25 million Americans out of work.

In the words of Obama's chief economic advisor Larry Summers, "priority Number One has to be assuring rapid job growth."

Rep. Anthony Weiner, one of the strongest proponents of Obamacare, conceded "I don't think it would be the worst thing to take a step back and say we are going to pivot to do a jobs thing."

Sure enough, Obama said in his address that "jobs must be our number one focus in 2010."  Putting Americans back to work is more important than socializing health care, but Obama and the Democrats are just offering the same failed big government programs as a solution.

In the State of the Union, Obama falsely claimed that his trillion dollar Stimulus Bill saved two million jobs.  Then, he laid out the principles for his Jobs Bill that would waste billions upon billions more taxpayer dollars on the same failed programs.  The only difference is that he called it "investing" instead of spending.

A much simpler approach to protect jobs: cut back on immigration.

Democrats cannot pretend to stand for the people and job growth and against Wall Street while pushing for amnesty and mass immigration.  In the State of the Union, Obama said, "And we should continue the work of fixing our broken immigration system -- to secure our borders and enforce our laws, and ensure that everyone who plays by the rules can contribute to our economy and enrich our nation."  Immigration hawk Tom Tancredo would agree with that!

The White House's website however clarified this trite line, "The President is pleased Congress is taking steps forward on immigration reform that includes effective border security measures with a path for legalization for those who are willing to pay taxes and abide by the law. He is committed to confronting this problem in practical, effective ways, using the current tools at our disposal while we work with Congress to enact comprehensive reform.

In other words, he wants amnesty.

Despite claims that we are enforcing immigration laws and the economic downturn is causing illegal aliens to leave, there are still over 8 million illegal aliens in the workforce.

Rather than cracking down on illegal aliens and their employers Obama has reversed positive steps towards enforcement made in the last years of the Bush administration.

Now he says he supports Rep. Louis Guiterrez's (D-IL)  misnamed Comprehensive Immigration Reform for America's Security and Prosperity Act of 2009 that will completely gut all enforcement against illegal immigration and give a blanket amnesty to illegal aliens.  The bill has over 90 Democratic co-sponsors.

According to a recent poll of Mexican Citizens, 56% said that they or people they knew would be more likely come to American illegally if they thought an amnesty would be passed.

One of our new leaders, Freshman Rep. Jason Chaffetz (R-UT)-who defeated pro-amnesty Republican Chris Cannon in a primary last year-is fighting  back.  He introduced a bipartisan resolution that laid out three basic principles of an illegal immigration policy that would protect American jobs.

(1)    E-Verify should be mandatory, and that worksite enforcement policies should hold both employers and illegal employees responsible for violations of immigration law;

(2)    Installing and sustaining border security infrastructure and manpower is a critical responsibility of the federal government; and

(3)    Any immigration reform legislation Congress adopts should not grant amnesty to, or confer legal status upon, illegal aliens in the United States.

This resolution is a great start, but we need to address legal immigration as well.  While we should welcome those who come to this country the legal way and want to become Americans, our first duty is to American citizens.

Every month, our government issues 75,000 new permanent work visas and 50,000 new temporary work visas.  That's 1.5 million new foreign workers competing with Americans for jobs since Obama took office.

Even if you believed Obama's phony claim that the stimulus created or saved 2 million jobs, our legal immigration policy gave away three fourths that number.

Amazingly, no one in either political party is even willing to address this issue.  In fact, Rep. Guiterrez's amnesty bill will issue over 500,000 new visas to foreign workers next year alone.

The first thing we can do as a country to bring back jobs is crack down on illegal immigration, enact a moratorium on immigration, and reject amnesty.  These simple steps will free up millions of jobs for Americans.  And unlike his stimulus money, this will not put us further in debt.  In fact, it will save taxpayers billions of dollars to pay for schools, hospitals, social services, welfare, and prisons for immigrants.

Standing up to uncontrolled immigration provides Republicans a golden opportunity to establish itself as the true populist party who stands up for the American worker against special interests groups.

Dear Friend,

Just days before Christmas, liberals in the U.S. House of Representatives delivered a big gift to those pushing for amnesty for illegal immigrants.

They introduced new legislation that would offer amnesty to more than 12 million illegal aliens living in the United States as long as they meet a short list of requirements, including paying a small, $500 fine for citizenship. This bill would also discontinue many immigration enforcement programs like the very successful E-Verify program, and it would create new programs that would benefit those who have been living in the country illegally.

Allowing millions of illegal immigrants to stay and take jobs away from citizens and legal immigrants is unacceptable. Illegal immigration must be controlled, and I am firmly opposed to amnesty of any kind. Amnesty sends the wrong message – that of a reward – to those who have been evading our laws. Also, it is extremely unfair to all of the legal immigrants who came to this nation and obeyed our laws to become citizens.

As we embark on a new year, I will be working against legislation like this and to strengthen and enforce our immigration laws.

Sincerely,

David Vitter
U.S. Senator

Subject: Parkland Memorial Hospital, Dallas, TX

Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas, Texas is a fairly famous institution and for a variety of reasons:

1. John F. Kennedy died there in 1963
2. Lee Harvey Oswald died there shortly after
3. Jack Ruby-who killed Lee Harvey Oswald, died there a few years later..by coincidence

On the flip side,
Parkland is also home to the second busiest maternity ward in the country with almost 16,000 new babies arriving each year. (That's almost 44 per day---every day)

A recent patient survey indicated that 70 percent of the women who gave birth at
Parkland in the first three months of 2006 were illegal immigrants. That's 11,200 anchor babies born every year just in Dallas

According to the article, the hospital spent $70.7 million delivering 15,938 babies in 2004 but managed to end up with almost $8 million dollars in surplus funding. Medicaid kicked in $34.5 million,
Dallas County taxpayers kicked in $31.3 million and the feds tossed in another $9.5 million.

The average patient in
Parkland is maternity wards is 25 years old, married and giving birth to her second child. She is also an illegal immigrant. By law, pregnant women cannot be denied medical care based on their immigration status or ability to pay.

OK, fine. That doesn't mean they should receive better care than everyday, middle-class American citizens. But at
Parkland Hospital , they do. " Parkland Memorial Hospital has nine prenatal clinics. NINE.

The
Dallas Morning News article followed a Hispanic woman who was a patient at one of the clinics and pregnant with her third child---her previous two were also born at Parkland . Her first two deliveries were free and the Mexican native was grateful because it would have cost$200 to have them in Mexico . This time, the hospital wants her to pay $10 per visit and $100 for the delivery but she was unsure if she could come up with the money. Not that it matters, the hospital won't turn her away. (I wonder why they even bother asking at this point.)

"How long has this been going on? What are the long-term effects?

Well, another subject of the article was born at
Parkland in 1986 shortly after her mother entered the US illegally - now she is having her own child there as well. (That's right, she's technically a US citizen.)

These women receive free prenatal care including medication, nutrition, birthing classes and child care classes. They also get freebies such as car seats, bottles, diapers and formula.

Most of these things are available to American citizens as well but only for low-income applicants and even then, the red tape involved is almost

insurmountable.

Because these women are illegal immigrants, they do not have to provide any sort of legitimate identification - no proof of income. An American citizen would have to provide a social security number which would reveal their annual income - an illegal immigrant need only claim to be poor and the hospital must take them at their word.

Parkland Hospital offers indigent care to Dallas County residents who earn less than $40,000 per year. (They also have to prove that they did not refuse health coverage at their current job. Yeah, the 'free' care is not so easy for Americans.)

There are about 140 patients who received roughly $4 million dollars for un-reimbursed medical care. As it turns out, they did not qualify for free treatment because they resided outside of
Dallas County so the hospital is going to sue them! Illegals get it all free! But U. S citizens who live outside of Dallas County get sued! How stupid is this?

As if that isn't annoying enough, the
illegal immigrant patients are actually complaining about hospital staff not speaking Spanish. In this AP story, the author speaks with a woman who is upset that she had to translate comments from the hospital staff into Spanish for her husband. The doctor was trying to explain the situation to the family and the mother was forced to translate for her husband who only spoke Spanish.. This was apparently a great injustice to her.

In an attempt to create a Spanish-speaking staff,
Parkland Hospital is now providing incentives in the form of extra pay for applicants who speak Spanish. Additionally, medical students at the University of Texas Southwestern for which Parkland Hospital is the training facility will now have a Spanish language requirement added to their already jammed-packed curriculum. No other school in the country boasts such a ridiculous multi-semester (multicultural) requirement.

( Sorry for the length, but this needs wide circulation particularly to our
"employees" in Congress.)

Remember that this is about only
ONE hospital in Dallas , Texas . There are many more hospitals across our country that must also deal with this.

PLEASE SEND THIS TO EVERY U.S. CITIZEN YOU KNOW.

Democrats are still not satisfied with my former colleague Joe Wilson's apology after he shouted "You lie!"

when Obama said in his address to Congress that: "There are also those who claim that our reform efforts

would insure illegal immigrants. This, too, is false. The reforms I'm proposing would not apply to those who

are here illegally."

Nancy Pelosi's and other Democrats are threatening to discipline Joe for his violation if he doesn't apologize.

Whether or not Joe Wilson breached House decorum, Joe's actions were both true and effective. Obama admitted as much by proposing changes to the bill to limit illegal aliens' access to Obamacare. Joe's apology

is enough, but Obama's concessions are not..

Republicans twice introduced Amendments to require the SAVE program be implemented ("Systematic Alien Verification for Entitlements" - a program to ensure that they are not illegal aliens., however it was voted down by the same Democrats who hypocritically added the clause that ostensibly barred illegals. It must be understood that this was not an oversight..

Furthermore, the current bill proposed by the Democrats does not say anything about illegal aliens not being able to participate in the taxpayer subsidized "Health Insurance Exchange" program.

Conservatives tried to bring these facts to the forefront of the healthcare debate, but the media and the Democrats simply ignored them or repeated their lie that illegal aliens would not receive government funded healthcare.

But Joe Wilson forced them to face the facts. On Friday night, Obama announced that he wanted to use the SAVE program and bar illegals from the Health Insurance Exchange.

This does not mean Obama was telling the truth when Joe called him a liar. On the contrary, it is an admission that before Joe called out Obama illegals were eligible.

Assuming the House follows through with Obama's newly proposed changes, there are still more loopholes.

As the Open Borders Lobby never fails to remind us, many illegal aliens have family members who are here legally. Often, they are "anchor babies" born to illegal aliens on
US
soil.

There is nothing in to keep them from getting healthcare. The Congressional Research Service issued a report noting:

"There could be instances where some family members would meet the definition of an eligible individual for purposes of the credit, while other family members would not... H.R. 3200 does not expressly address how

such a situation would be treated. Therefore, it appears that the Health Choices Commissioner would be responsible for determining how the credits would be administered in the case of mixed-status families."

It doesn't take a clairvoyant to guess where Obama's handpicked bureaucrats will come down on this issue.

But even if all the loopholes are closed, they will be meaningless if amnesty is given to illegal aliens.

If passed, Obamacare will not go in effect until 2013. Obama wants to pass amnesty in the beginning of 2010. He told Katie Couric he wanted to "create a situation where we're dealing with illegal immigration, so that we don't have illegal immigrants. And we've got legal residents or citizens who are eligible for the plan. I want a comprehensive immigration plan that creates a pathway to achieve that."

So if he gets his way, prohibitions against giving healthcare to illegal aliens will be meaningless because they won't be illegal aliens anymore.

Illegal immigration already costs billion$to our system. The Federation for American Immigration Reform

recently released a report that the cost of reimbursing hospitals for care of illegal aliens alone costs

10.5 billion dollar$a year. Another study by the Center for Immigration Studies estimated the cost of including illegals in Obamacare at 30.5 billion dollar$.

Turning illegal aliens into legal residents does not change these costs.

In July, Roll Call interviewed an anonymous Congressman from the Congressional Hispanic Caucus, "Asked

if [CHC] leaders will ask Pelosi to specifically spell something out in the bill to address illegal immigrants, the Member said no. Rather, the Member said the CHC simply wants to make sure the bill-as drafted-doesn't prohibit illegal immigrants from accessing care."

They do not tell the American people what they really want because they know the American people are

against them. Like roaches, they will run for cover if you shine a little light on them. Joe did exactly that.

Tom Tancredo represented Colorado's 6th Congressional District from 1999 until 2009

where he chaired the 100+ member bipartisan Immigration Reform Caucus.

He currently serves as co-chairman of Team America PAC

and president of the Rocky Mountain Foundation.

Dear Friends,

With only one week before Congress returns to
Washington to make more trouble for us all, I thought I would give you an update on the real heroes of our movement. According to the National Conference of State Legislatures, during the first half of 2009, 1,400 bills concerning immigration were considered across all 50 states. Of that, over 259 have already been enacted in 44 states!Don't let anyone tell you that immigration is not an issue on the radar!

In
Arizona, were we already have the toughest immigration laws in the land, our friend, Senator Russell Pearce, is doing his best to make them tougher. He proposed a bill this year that would have made it illegal under Arizona law to be in the state without proper documentation, permitting local law enforcement to lock illegals up as trespassers. It passed the Senate but not so House. Not to be discouraged, Russell is now preparing a ballot proposition with the same goal and also make sanctuary cities illegal. Team America will be helping Russell get this law on the ballot.

In
Indiana, State Senator Mike Delph introduced a bill that prohibits Indiana from hiring illegals, increases the penalties for identity fraud, and would ban sanctuary cities. The Senator calls it one of the toughest immigration laws in the country, and it certainly is! It passed the State Senate, but got stalled in the General Assembly. There are plans to re-introduce it.

In
California, estimates of the cost of illegal immigration go as high as $13 billion a year, almost half of the state's recent budget deficit. Immigration patriots are determined to stop this outrage. They are preparing a proposition targeting anchor babies. If passed the law would not allow the state to provide any benefits not required by federal law to illegal immigrants or their children-whether these children are anchor babies or not. They are currently raising money and doing petition drives to get this on the ballot by 2010.

Even
Los Angeles County has begun looking into using E-Verify for county workers and contractors. Question is what took them so long?

The many benefits of E-Verify is now reaching communities everywhere.
Huntsville, Alabama is preparing to require all businesses that contract with the city to run all their employees through E-Verify. In Nebraska, they enacted a law that would require all those receiving public benefits and state employees to be run through E-Verify. In Ohio, State Rep. Courtney Combs introduced E-Verify legislation for all public and private employers in May. Similar legislation is also in the works in states like Rhode Island, North Carolina, Utah, and Michigan.

Even here in
Colorado, the natives are also getting restless. At a recent town hall meeting, US Senator Bennett faced an angry crowd over not just health care -but immigration as well. He was particularly grilled on Obama's plan to give health care to illegals.

Friends, this is how it has to happen. We can't rely on
Washington to do its job. So let me encourage you to start agitating your local and state officials to pass tough immigration laws. Tell them it is the only responsible course of action in these tough economic times.

In the meantime you can be certain that I'll be working with Team
America to find and support candidates that will go to Washington and fight for us-and we will always be there for our local heroes if they need our help. Support Team America Today by Clicking Here!

Let me close by thanking you for all you do for me, for Team
America, and for this great country of ours. Have a wonderful Labor Day weekend.

God Bless You,

Tom Tancredo

Tomatoes

THIS HAS GOT TO BE PASSED ALONG TO AS MANY AS POSSIBLE OR WE WILL ALL GO DOWN THE DRAIN BECAUSE A FEW DON'T CARE.

This English teacher has phrased it the best I've seen yet

Tomatoes and Cheap Labor

CHEAP TOMATOES?
This should make everyone think, be you Democrat, Republican or Independent

From a California school teacher - - -

"As you listen to the news about the student protests over illegal immigration, there are some things that you should be aware of:

I am in charge of the English-as-a-second-language department at a large southern California high school which is designated a Title 1 school, meaning that its students average lower socioeconomic and income levels.

Most of the schools you are hearing about, South Gate High,
Bell Gardens , Huntington Park , etc., where these students are protesting, are also Title 1 schools.

Title 1 schools are on the free breakfast and free lunch program. When I say free breakfast, I'm not talking a glass of milk and roll -- but a full breakfast and cereal bar with fruits and juices that would make a Marriott proud. The waste of this food is monumental, with trays and trays of it being dumped in the trash uneaten. (
OUR TAX DOLLARS AT WORK )

I estimate that well over 50% of these students are obese or at least moderately overweight. About 75% or more DO have
cell phones. The school also provides day care centers for the unwed teenage pregnant girls (some as young as 13) so they can attend class without the inconvenience of having to arrange for babysitters or having family watch their kids. (OUR TAX DOLLARS AT WORK)

I was ordered to spend $700,000 on my department or risk losing funding for the upcoming year even though there was little need for anything; my budget was already substantial. I ended up buying new computers for the computer learning center, half of which, one month later, have been carved with graffiti by the appreciative students who obviously feel humbled and grateful to have a free education in
America . (OUR TAX DOLLARS AT WORK)

I have had to intervene several times for young and substitute teachers whose classes consist of many illegal immigrant students here in the country less then 3 months who raised so much hell with the female teachers, calling them "Putas" whores and throwing things that the teachers were in tears.

Free medical, free education, free food, day care etc., etc., etc.
Is it any wonder they feel entitled to not only be in this country but to demand rights, privileges and entitlements ?

To those who want to point out how much these illegal immigrants contribute to our society because they LIKE their gardener and housekeeper and they like to pay less for tomatoes: spend some time in the real world of illegal immigration and see the TRUE costs.

Higher insurance, medical facilities closing, higher medical costs, more
crime, lower standards of education in our schools, overcrowding, new diseases etc., etc, etc. For me, I'll pay more for tomatoes.

We need to wake up.
The guest worker program will be a disaster because we won't have the guts to enforce it . Does anyone in their right mind really think they will voluntarily leave and return?

It does, however, have everything to do with culture: A third-world culture that does not value education, that accepts children getting pregnant and dropping out of school by 15 and that refuses to assimilate , and an
American culture that has become so weak and worried about " political Correctness" that we don't have the will to do anything about it.

If this makes your
blood boil, as it did mine, forward this to everyone you know.

CHEAP LABOR? Isn't that what the whole immigration issue is about?

Business doesn't want to pay a decent wage.

Consumers don't want expensive produce.

Government will tell you Americans don't want the jobs.

But the bottom line is cheap labor. The phrase "cheap labor" is a
myth , a farce, and a lie. There is no such thing as "cheap labor."

Take, for example, an illegal alien with a wife and five children. He takes a job for $5.00 or 6.00/hour. At that wage, with six dependents,
he pays no income tax, yet at the end of the year, if he files an Income Tax Return, he gets an "earned income credit" of up to $3,200 free.

He qualifies for
Section 8 housing and subsidized rent.
He qualifies for
food stamps.
He qualifies for free (no deductible, no co-pay) health care.
His children get free breakfasts and lunches at school.
He
requires bilingual teachers and books.
He qualifies for relief from high energy bills.
If they are, or become, aged, blind or disabled, they qualify for SSI. Once qualified for SSI they can qualify for Medicare . All of this is at (our) taxpayer's expense .
He doesn't worry about car insurance, life insurance, or homeowners insurance.
Taxpayers provide
Spanish language signs, bulletins and printed material.
He and his family receive the equivalent of $20.00 to $30.00/hour in benefits.

Working Americans
are lucky to have $5.00 or $6.00/hour left after paying their bills and his.
The American taxpayers also pay for increased crime, graffiti and trash clean-up..
Cheap labor? YEAH RIGHT!
Wake up people!

THESE ARE THE QUESTIONS WE SHOULD BE ADDRESSING TO EITHER PARTY. 'AND WHEN THEY LIE TO US AND DON'T DO AS THEY SAY, WE SHOULD REPLACE THEM AT ONCE!'

THIS HAS GOT TO BE PASSED ALONG TO AS MANY AS POSSIBLE OR WE WILL ALL GO DOWN THE DRAIN BECAUSE A FEW DON'T CARE.

Dear Friends,

The deception never stops with this Administration. I'm beginning to think they are plagued with a dishonest gene. President Obama knows Americans do not want illegal aliens covered under health care and so they just say they are not covered. But it's not true!

Today I called on the President to come clean and tell Americans the truth. I hope you will support me in this effort by repeating my demand at your town hall meetings, and in calls to your elected officials. We must stop this government by deceit---and we must stop this health care for illegals! We don't need any more magnets to attract more illegals aliens to cross our border.

Thanks for all you do for this great nation and all the support you are to me and to Team
America.

God bless you,

Tom Tancredo

Dear Friends,

Before I close the work week I wanted to alert you to some amazing developments.

This week, while in
Mexico for his little pow-wow with President Calderon and Prime Minister Harper, President Obama reminded us that he is still committed to amnesty. He has asked the Department of Homeland Security to work with Congress on a bill that would allow a path to citizenship to those who "live in the shadows."

But the amazing part of his statement was "[Getting the bill passed] is going to be difficult. It is going to require bipartisan cooperation." Then Obama added, on foreign soil, "There are demagogues out there who try to suggest that any form of pathway for legalization for those already in the
United States is unacceptable."

Those demagogues are you, me and most Americans. So why does he think it will be so hard to pass? Because there are more "demagogues" (I prefer the term "Patriots" myself) in this country who understand exactly what amnesty is and know the damage it will do this country than there are open-border fanatics who would sell out this country in a nano-second.

Secondly, we learned this week that we seem to be losing all our wars. In
Afghanistan the Taliban appears to have the upper hand, and in Mexico the drug cartels are more powerful than ever, and their influence among the people is growing.

One of the most violent cartels is now in control of
Nuevo Laredo, which sits directly across the border from Laredo, TX. The Gulf Cartel and their enforcement arm, the Zetas, known as "The Company" by US authorities, dominate the drug trafficking through eastern Mexico that flows into the US.

In light of this I found it particularly astounding to read that Homeland Security's Queen Napolitano, told USA Today: "Whenever I hear somebody say, 'The border is out of control!' I know that that's somebody who's just trying to gin people up because, in reality, there is way more physical infrastructure, technology and manpower down there than there ever was. It's changed remarkably, and it is very, very difficult to cross illegally."

Someone needs to tell that to the illegals pouring into this country!!

Friends of mine have secretly placed a camera on a number of different
Arizona routes that drug runners and human smugglers use to enter this country. I am sending you a short video summarizing just a few weeks of recent activity along this route. It is a must see!! "Difficult to cross?" Hardly!! Click Here to View

Our border is wide open-and a greater threat to our security than ever before. And the lady in charge-and her boss in the White House-are in denial!!

Send this video to as many people as you know-including your congressman. Let the facts tell the story. We must get our border defended!!. And be ready for another fight against amnesty.

Will
Washington ever learn? America wants its borders protected and its laws enforced! Or do they even care?

Have a great weekend and stay strong. We need to take our country back and it will take all of us working together.

All the best,

Bay Buchanan

Dear Friend,

Illegal immigration remains an urgent issue facing our country, and I would like to update you about some recent actions I’ve taken to confront this problem.

Last month I coauthored and helped introduce the Secure America through Verification and Enforcement Act, which would implement a three-point approach to reducing illegal immigration based on the principle of attrition through enforcement. This principle is based on the premise that living illegally in the United States will become more difficult and less satisfying over time when all levels of the government enforce the laws already on the books.

The first part of the SAVE Act is focused on securing our borders. Under my bill, we would hire 6,000 more Border Patrol agents to stop the flow of illegal immigrants, and we would expand the use of new technology and specialized enforcement programs such as the Tunnel Task Force.

Thanks,

Check out this week's video, it's great!

This should be an interesting week gunners. Thanks for reading Guns & Patriots.

Dear Friends,
