Most would say 99 weeks (nearly 2 years) is probably a little too much time to be dependent on government, but apparently Congress doesn't think so! Anti-Amnesty Christians Are Like Those Who Supported Slavery & Segregation? Religious Leaders Say Amnesty Morally Necessary

A Brookings Institute conference today about the near unanimity of the nation's religious leaders in favor of amnesty and more foreign workers cast the debate in stark moral absolutes.

The Christian leaders repeatedly compared the fight for legalization of illegal aliens to the battles against slavery and segregation and pledged to convert and mobilize their members in the pews to force a vote on "comprehensive immigration reform."

ARIZONA THE NEW SELMA?

Arizona has become this generation's Selma.

-- Jim Wallis, head of the evangelical Sojourners movement

Wallis was referring to the brutal attempts of police and government in Selma, Alabama in the 1960s to stop civil rights marchers from trying to end racial segregation.

This has become a common theme as top leaders of the Southern Baptists, Lutherans, Jews, Methodists, Assemblies of God, Catholics, Presbyterians and the broad independent evangelical community have locked arms in a march for massive increases in immigration and foreign labor importation into the United States.

To Wallis and many others, the overwhelming majority of Christians who, polls show, support Arizona's recent law cracking down on immigration are the equivalent of the minority of Americans who supported racist, cruel laws that denied Black Americans many of their most basic rights as U.S. citizens. To these Christian leaders, a foreign national who breaks our immigration laws immediately becomes a victim of an oppressive U.S. system and is entitled to all the rights and privileges of a native-born citizen or naturalized immigrant.

Rev. Sam Rodriguez, head of the nation's largest coalition of Hispanic clergy, compared himself and the other pro-amnesty religious leaders to two of recent history's great Christian champions against inhumanity:

We are committed to oppose xenophobia and nativism (as we speak) in the voice of Martin Luther King and William Wilberforce.

Wilberforce was the great evangelical and member of British Parliament who spent his career eventually ending the British slave trade.

GIDDY OVER AMNESTY SUPPORT BY SOUTHERN BAPTIST & EVANGELICAL LEADERS

Catholic and liberal Protestant leaders have become almost giddy about the fact that they are now joined by top leaders of the nation's powerful and growing evangelical community and of the largest Protestant denomination, the Southern Baptist Convention.

Just last week, eight of them met with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and with White House staff calling on them to not give up on "comprehensive immigration reform" but to bring the amnesty to a vote this year.

The Rev. Richard Land, head of the Southern Baptists' national public policy commission, described his vision of a moral outcome by insisting that borders first be totally secured and then:

We move forward with a period of grace, where people can come forward and register and begin a pathway . . . (to) earned, legal status."

Rev. Land is vehement that it is not an amnesty to give permanent legal residency and permanent work permits to foreigners who broke immigration laws to illegally reside in this country and to illegally hold a job. Asked if illegal aliens have committed a crime, he responded:

Most of the people in my constituency (Southern Baptists) would say, 'Yes, they've broken the law, and there need to be penalties for that.' The question is: What are the panalties? And we would argue that there needs to be an earned pathway to legal status that would include paying a fine, agreeing to come forward and register and undergo a background check, and to start taking English classes."

Remember the late Jerry Falwell of Liberty University? Remember how he was often considered a leader of the most right-wing part of the Christian community? Well, Matthew Staver from Liberty University's Law School was one of the leaders imploring Nancy Pelosi to bring the amnesty up for a vote this year.

What does Staver think about making immigration lawbreakers go home?

Not only is it not practical, it's not moral. And I don't believe that's biblical either."

UNPRECEDENTED UNITY AMONG RELIGIOUS LEADERS FOR A SOCIAL CHANGE

Perhaps never in U.S. history has the leadership of nearly all faith groups united behind a single major social change -- until the current near unanimity in favor of comprehensive immigration reform (amnesty for illegal aliens and increases in future foreign labor), speakers at Brookings indicated.

And I can't think of another case like this myself.

Here's what Brookings had to say about it:

Religious leaders have demonstrated a remarkable degree of unity across theological, denominational, and ideological lines for comprehensive immigration reform.

Religious groups have organized marches, prayer vigils and postcard campaigns to pressure the U.S. Congress to take up immigration reform.

Largely because of the activism of these religious groups, immigration has remained on a legislative agenda crowded with other pressing domestic concerns.

Despite the general attitude of politicians in Congress and the White House that passing an amnesty is not possible this election year, the religious leaders pledged to do all they can to break the stalemate and force a vote.

If anybody can do this, it will be a bi-partisan effort by the faith community.

NOT FOR OPEN BORDERS . . . BUT NOT REALLY FOR ANY ENFORCEMENT OR LIMITS EITHER

Katharine Jefferts Schori, the Presiding Bishop of the nation's Episcopal Churches, was challenged about how religious leaders' opposition to the nation's immigration laws could appeal to their constituents who, polls show, are very much committed to concepts of rule of law,

The role of the prophetic tradition is to challenge laws and structures that appear to be unjust. . . . We are meant to see every human being as our neighbor.

The implication seemed to be that neighbors don't let neighbors get punished for breaking immigration laws.

All the leaders insisted that they don't believe in open borders. But every form of enforcement that was mentioned was opposed by the Brookings religious leaders.

Even the greatly reduced enforcement level under the Obama Administration is unacceptable:

Yes, it is time for Christian disobedience (against the enforcement of immigration laws).

What they mean by NOT open borders is that they would definitely stop people who arrived carrying a bomb. But if they arrived at the border with a letter from a U.S. employer promising a job, they should be let in, without limit apparently.

We are trying to replace illegal behavior with legal avenues. If you provide legal visas, the Border Patrol will go after criminal elements. . . . Part of the solution is to create a system where everybody is legal and on the same playing field.

This religious idea basically is that foreigners who can get a job in the U.S. should be allowed to become an immigrant and eventually a citizen. This, by the way, is the idea of Steve Forbes, too. Globalize the U.S. labor market so that anybody in the world can come in to compete for a job with U.S. citizens -- that's the idea.

Appleby did say that the system should be set up so that U.S. citizens get first crack at a job. But I've never heard a pro-amnesty religious leader ever describe how that would happen.

The problem, agreed Bishop Schori, is that we just don't provide enough green cards to foreign workers:

We encourage people to come here from an economic perspective but we don't provide them the means to come legally.

DISTORTING ARIZONA LAW FOR RHETORICAL ADVANTAGE

One thing that was pretty apparent to me today is that the religious leaders are far more radical than almost any of the Democrats in Congress in their opposition to real enforcement and to any real limits on immigration.

The religious leaders gave a sort of comic book description of the Arizona law.

The Presiding Episcopal Bishop indicated that some of her underling bishops will be fearful of being threatened by Arizona police:

Our bishops will meet in September in Arizona. It has been planned a few years. We will express solidarity with the Latino community. A number of our bishops are temporary sojourners themselves. Members of our group will be at some hazard at having to present identification themselves while there.

Rev. Wallis repeated as truth the rumor that the Arizona law will make criminals out of church workers who provide food, clothing and other material help to illegal aliens.

JUST HOW EVIL DO THEIR LEADERS THINK THE CHRISTIANS IN THE PEWS ARE?

The Brookings speakers were challenged a little about just how much influence the religious leaders have when polls show such largescale support of the their membership for the Arizona law.

We do need to do a better job reaching those middle classes who aren't sure and need an answer to their question, 'What part of illegal don't you understand.'

The reality is when people are threatened they do ugly things and that is what is happening in Arizona.

There is a disconnect between pulpit and pew. The majority of faith leaders support comprehensive immigration reform. But the pew is still disconnected. Pews still listen to cable news. We have some work to do.

In the end, national religious leaders from every part of the theological spectrum have paraded through Washington in the last few weeks both claiming that they speak for the majority of their faith groups' members and also that too many of their members are part of the evil thread in America that protected slavery, that protected segregation and that now protects enforcement of immigration laws.

Not a word from the religious leaders today about the 25 million Americans who want a full-time job and can't find one. You would never know listening to the national religious leaders that anybody other than illegal aliens are "the least of these" that Jesus admonished his followers to care for. You would never know that there is a giant Black and Hispanic American underclass that competes directly for jobs and services with the illegal population.

LOOK OUT -- PRO-AMNESTY SERMONS ARE COMING YOUR WAY

My sense listening to the leaders today is that they are cornucopians -- Christian utopians who can't be bothered with any concept of limits, of rationing or of the need to prioritize anything. Their idea is that one can show mercy to millions of illegal aliens and not commit injustice against millions of America's most vulnerable and poor.

For all their bravura about forcing an amnesty vote in Congress, they sound disappointed that more of their members aren't following them. A Ford Foundation-supported poll found that only one out of four Christians has heard immigration preached from the pulpit.

It sounds like the pro-amnesty champions hope to persuade a lot more preachers to do their job and convince the people in the pews that they'd better start pushing amnesty or risk being lumped in with segregationists and slave owners.

Rev. Land is vehement that it is not an amnesty to give permanent legal residency and permanent work permits to foreigners who broke immigration laws to illegally reside in this country and to illegally hold a job. Asked if illegal aliens have committed a crime, he responded:

Most of the people in my constituency (Southern Baptists) would say, 'Yes, they've broken the law, and there need to be penalties for that.' The question is: What are the panalties? And we would argue that there needs to be an earned pathway to legal status that would include paying a fine, agreeing to come forward and register and undergo a background check, and to start taking English classes."

To Rev. Rodriguez, making illegal aliens go home would be cruel and unusual punishment. The punishment for breaking immigration laws should be a fine:

Remember the late Jerry Falwell of Liberty University? Remember how he was often considered a leader of the most right-wing part of the Christian community? Well, Matthew Staver from Liberty University's Law School was one of the leaders imploring Nancy Pelosi to bring the amnesty up for a vote this year.

What does Staver think about making immigration lawbreakers go home?

Not only is it not practical, it's not moral. And I don't believe that's biblical either."

UNPRECEDENTED UNITY AMONG RELIGIOUS LEADERS FOR A SOCIAL CHANGE

Perhaps never in U.S. history has the leadership of nearly all faith groups united behind a single major social change -- until the current near unanimity in favor of comprehensive immigration reform (amnesty for illegal aliens and increases in future foreign labor), speakers at Brookings indicated.

And I can't think of another case like this myself.

Here's what Brookings had to say about it:

Religious leaders have demonstrated a remarkable degree of unity across theological, denominational, and ideological lines for comprehensive immigration reform.

Religious groups have organized marches, prayer vigils and postcard campaigns to pressure the U.S. Congress to take up immigration reform.

Largely because of the activism of these religious groups, immigration has remained on a legislative agenda crowded with other pressing domestic concerns.

Despite the general attitude of politicians in Congress and the White House that passing an amnesty is not possible this election year, the religious leaders pledged to do all they can to break the stalemate and force a vote.

If anybody can do this, it will be a bi-partisan effort by the faith community.

Katharine Jefferts Schori, the Presiding Bishop of the nation's Episcopal Churches, was challenged about how religious leaders' opposition to the nation's immigration laws could appeal to their constituents who, polls show, are very much committed to concepts of rule of law,

The implication seemed to be that neighbors don't let neighbors get punished for breaking immigration laws.

All the leaders insisted that they don't believe in open borders. But every form of enforcement that was mentioned was opposed by the Brookings religious leaders.

Even the greatly reduced enforcement level under the Obama Administration is unacceptable:

Yes, it is time for Christian disobedience (against the enforcement of immigration laws).

What they mean by NOT open borders is that they would definitely stop people who arrived carrying a bomb. But if they arrived at the border with a letter from a U.S. employer promising a job, they should be let in, without limit apparently.

We are trying to replace illegal behavior with legal avenues. If you provide legal visas, the Border Patrol will go after criminal elements. . . . Part of the solution is to create a system where everybody is legal and on the same playing field.

This religious idea basically is that foreigners who can get a job in the U.S. should be allowed to become an immigrant and eventually a citizen. This, by the way, is the idea of Steve Forbes, too. Globalize the U.S. labor market so that anybody in the world can come in to compete for a job with U.S. citizens -- that's the idea.

Appleby did say that the system should be set up so that U.S. citizens get first crack at a job. But I've never heard a pro-amnesty religious leader ever describe how that would happen.

The problem, agreed Bishop Schori, is that we just don't provide enough green cards to foreign workers:

We encourage people to come here from an economic perspective but we don't provide them the means to come legally.

DISTORTING ARIZONA LAW FOR RHETORICAL ADVANTAGE

One thing that was pretty apparent to me today is that the religious leaders are far more radical than almost any of the Democrats in Congress in their opposition to real enforcement and to any real limits on immigration.

The religious leaders gave a sort of comic book description of the Arizona law.

The Presiding Episcopal Bishop indicated that some of her underling bishops will be fearful of being threatened by Arizona police:

Our bishops will meet in September in Arizona. It has been planned a few years. We will express solidarity with the Latino community. A number of our bishops are temporary sojourners themselves. Members of our group will be at some hazard at having to present identification themselves while there.

Rev. Wallis repeated as truth the rumor that the Arizona law will make criminals out of church workers who provide food, clothing and other material help to illegal aliens.

JUST HOW EVIL DO THEIR LEADERS THINK THE CHRISTIANS IN THE PEWS ARE?

The Brookings speakers were challenged a little about just how much influence the religious leaders have when polls show such largescale support of the their membership for the Arizona law.

We do need to do a better job reaching those middle classes who aren't sure and need an answer to their question, 'What part of illegal don't you understand.'

There is a disconnect between pulpit and pew. The majority of faith leaders support comprehensive immigration reform. But the pew is still disconnected. Pews still listen to cable news. We have some work to do.

In the end, national religious leaders from every part of the theological spectrum have paraded through Washington in the last few weeks both claiming that they speak for the majority of their faith groups' members and also that too many of their members are part of the evil thread in America that protected slavery, that protected segregation and that now protects enforcement of immigration laws.

Not a word from the religious leaders today about the 25 million Americans who want a full-time job and can't find one. You would never know listening to the national religious leaders that anybody other than illegal aliens are "the least of these" that Jesus admonished his followers to care for. You would never know that there is a giant Black and Hispanic American underclass that competes directly for jobs and services with the illegal population.

LOOK OUT -- PRO-AMNESTY SERMONS ARE COMING YOUR WAY

My sense listening to the leaders today is that they are cornucopians -- Christian utopians who can't be bothered with any concept of limits, of rationing or of the need to prioritize anything. Their idea is that one can show mercy to millions of illegal aliens and not commit injustice against millions of America's most vulnerable and poor.

For all their bravura about forcing an amnesty vote in Congress, they sound disappointed that more of their members aren't following them. A Ford Foundation-supported poll found that only one out of four Christians has heard immigration preached from the pulpit.

It sounds like the pro-amnesty champions hope to persuade a lot more preachers to do their job and convince the people in the pews that they'd better start pushing amnesty or risk being lumped in with segregationists and slave owners.

Maurice Strong: The new guy in your future!

Shortly after his selection as U.N. Secretary General, Kofi Annan told the Lehrer News Hour that Ingvar Carlsson and Shirdath Ramphal, co-chairs of the U.N.-funded Commission on Global Governance, would be among those asked to help him reform the sprawling, world-wide U.N. bureaucracy. His first choice, however, announced in the Washington Post on January 17, 1997, was none other than Maurice Strong, also a member of the Commission on Global Governance.

Strong's appointment as Senior Advisor, "to assist planning and executing a far-reaching reform of the world body," is seen by U.N. watchers to be a masterful strategic maneuver to avoid political opposition while empowering Strong to implement a global agenda he has been developing for years. More than 100 developing nations coordinated a "Draft Strong" movement in 1995 to replace Boutros Boutros-Ghali. But Strong's name was never presented publicly as a candidate. His appointment avoids the public scrutiny and the possibility of a veto. As a Senior Advisor to Kofi Annan, Strong will have a free hand to do what he wants while Annan takes the heat - or the praise. Strong prefers to operate in the background. He, perhaps more than any other single person, is responsible for the development of a global agenda now being implemented throughout the world. Although various components of the global agenda are associated with an assortment of individuals and institutions, Maurice Strong is, or has been, the driving force behind them. It is essential that Americans come to know this man who has been entrusted with the task of "reforming" the U.N. - this man Maurice F. Strong.

According to Elaine Dewar, author of Cloak of Green. Strong is a Socialist. He was born into a family who worked to get out the vote for Prime Minister Mackenzie King, who in 1943 was promoting the National Council for Soviet-Canadian Friendship. Strong's cousin, Anna Louise Strong, was a Marxist, and a member of the Comintern, who spent two years with Mao and Chou En-lai. Her burial in China in 1970 was organized personally by Chou En-lai. Maurice is well received in China, partly because of his cousin's connections.[1]

Strong is also closely aligned with Mikhail Gorbachev and was a participant in Gorbachev's State of the World Forum in San Francisco in 1995.[2] His organization, Earth Council, and Gorbachev's organization, Green Cross International, are currently developing a new "Earth Charter" for presentation to the U.N. General Assembly and ratification by all U.N. members before the year 2000. He served on the Brundtland Commission, headed by Gro Harlem Brundtland, then-Vice President of the World Socialist Party. Strong's love for socialist ideas is scattered throughout his professional life - as they apply to everyone else. For himself, he is quite the capitalist.

He ran away from home at 14. His father retrieved him from Vancouver. But in 1945, after completing the 11th grade, Strong was off again to become an apprentice fur trader in Hudson Bay. Strong's business success was remarkable. At 19, he was an investment analyst. At 25, he was Vice President of Dome Petroleum. At 31, he became the President of Power Corporation of Canada. He headed both Petro Canada and Hydro Canada, and made a few deals on the side as well, one of which was the acquisition in 1978 of the Colorado Land & Cattle Company which owned 200,000 acres of San Luis Valley in Colorado -- from Saudi arms dealer Adnan Khashoggi.[3]

The ranch, called Baca, sat on the continent's largest fresh water aquifer. Strong intended to pipe the water to the desert southwest, but environmental organizations protested and the plan was abandoned. Strong ended up with a $1.2 million settlement from the water company, an annual grant of $100,000 from Laurance Rockefeller, and still retained the rights to the water.

Strong's success in business was exceeded only by his success in government. From his post as founding director of the Canadian International Development Assistance Program (CIDA), he was elevated by Prime Minister Lester Pearson to represent Canada's interests in international affairs.

Strong's first exposure to the U.N. came in 1947 when, at 18, he went to New York to take a job as assistant pass officer in the Identification Unit of the Security Section. He lived with Noah Monod, then treasurer of the U.N.. Here, he first met David Rockefeller and learned that the U.N.'s funds were handled by Rockefeller's Chase Bank. He also met the other Rockefeller brothers and other influential people as well.

The idea of global governance emerged during this era. John J. McCloy was a member of the law firm that represented the Rockefeller's business interests. McCloy helped set up the World Bank and became its first president. He also became an assistant to Roosevelt's secretary of war, Henry Stimson. McCloy had been with Truman, Andrei Gromyko and Stalin at Potsdam in 1945, and it was McCloy who first received word that the atomic bomb test at Almagordo had been successful. He was appointed to a presidential commission to respond to a Soviet proposal that the United Nations control future development of atomic power. McCloy recommended that the U.S. turn over all information about the atomic bomb, including where to find uranium, to the U.N.. This idea of allowing the U.N. to become a supranational agency was also promoted by the Rockefellers and the Rockefeller-funded Council on Foreign Relations.[4]

Although Strong kept his U.N. job only two months, he met very influential people through Noah Monod who would later prove to be very useful. Strong returned to Winnipeg, failed to qualify for the Royal Canadian Air Force, and took a job as trainee analyst for James Richardson and Sons. By 1951, he had taken a job with Dome Petroleum, on whose board of directors was Henrie Brunie, a close friend of John J. McCloy. Dome became one of the largest oil companies in Canada but its shareholders resided on Wall Street, never very far away from Standard Oil and the Rockefellers.

In 1951 Strong married, and in 1952, abruptly sold his home, quit his job and took a world cruise. He wound up in Nairobi and took a job with CalTex, a company formed to exploit Saudi oil. His job involved travel to exotic parts of the world for two years. Strong visited his distant cousin, Robbins Strong, in Geneva, who was the Secretary of the Extension and Intermovement Aid Division of the international YMCA. He met Leonard Hentsch whose Swiss bank handled the money of the YMCA. Strong wanted to become an international ambassador for the YMCA, but settled for a position on the International Committee of the U.S.A. and Canada which raised funds for the YMCA.

This experience may have been the genesis of Strong's realization that NGOs (non-government organizations) provide an excellent way to use NGOs to couple the money from philanthropists and business with the objectives of government. In 1959, Strong created his own company, MF Strong Management. While serving as executive vice-president of Canada's Power Corporation, he also ran his own company, Alberta gas company, another company called Ajax, and elevated his role in the international YMCA and Canada's Liberal Party. He told Elaine Dewar, "We controlled many companies, controlled political budgets. We influenced a lot of appointments.... Politicians got to know you and you them."[5]

While Strong was expanding his influence in the business world and in Canadian politics, his friend, John J. McCloy became entrenched in the Kennedy administration as the head of the U.S. Arms Control and Disarmament Agency. McCloy continued to promote the idea of turning all defense over to the U.N. through his Blueprint for the Peace Race: Outline of Basic Provision of a Treaty on General and Complete Disarmament in a Peaceful World (Publication 4, General Series 3, May 3, 1962).

By 1966, Strong had moved up again in government. He became Director General of Canada's External Aid. He also became President of Canada's YMCA. Strong's primary job was to deliver the foreign aid promised by Lester Pearson's government. Rather than hire a staff, Strong contracted with a Quebec-based engineering firm called SNC-Lavalin, to supply "technical facilities" with the proviso that the firm would hire only those individuals approved by Strong. External Aid was transformed from a one-man operation to the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) in 1968, which Strong headed. His mentor, Lester Pearson, created another institution called the International Development Research Center (IDRC). The IDRC was a quasi-government agency that had unique authority to receive charitable donations -- and issue tax deductible certificates -- and give money directly to individuals, governments, and private organizations. Strong became its head in 1970.

Through his creation and direction of CIDA, Strong controlled the implementation of aid programs on the ground -- including who was hired to do the work, and through the newly created IDRC, Strong controlled the issuance of tax deductible certificates and the distrubution of both private foundation money as well as government money. He was in the perfect position to make many friends around the world. Dewar describes the arrangement this way: "He had helped create a federally funded but semi-private intelligence/influence network that could have impacts both in Canada and abroad."[6]

Strong was chosen to direct Earth Summit I, in Stockholm in 1972, not for his demonstrated interest in the environment, but because the Swedish representative to the U.N. believed that only Strong, with his extensive worldwide network of friends, could get both the developed and developing nations to participate. Strong was very busy when asked to organize the conference. He was recruiting people for Trudeau's new government, and he was managing his private investments which included real estate holdings in a company consisting of two former Canadian officials and himself. He also took a position as trustee of the Rockefeller Foundation which supplied a grant for the running of the Stockholm Conference office. He was also given the writing services of Barbara Ward and of the French ecologist Rene Dubos, who worked for the Rockefeller Foundation.

The 1972 Stockholm Conference on Human Environment (Earth Summit I) had far more international significance than was ever reported. NGO's (non-government organizations) were funded by the Canadian government to attend the conference to give the appearance of participation by the general public. Of course, only those NGOs personally selected by Strong received funding. One such NGO was headed by William Turner, Strong's protege who then headed the Power Corporation which Strong once headed. Strong also personally softened the Chinese to Nixon's initiatives. Strong visited China to persuade them to participate in the Stockholm Conference; the Chinese had not appeared at any U.N. function since the 1949 revolution. The Chinese took Strong to visit the grave of his cousin, Anna Louise Strong. Nixon named Henry Kissinger, who came from the Council on Foreign Relations, as his Security Advisor, and his first assignment was to open secret discussions with China. The Rockefellers gave Kissinger a $50,000 bonus when he went to work for Nixon.

The 1972 Stockholm Conference institutionalized the environment as a legitimate concern of government, and it institutionalized NGOs as the instruments through which government could varnish its agenda with the appearance of public support. The primary outcome of the conference was a recommendation to create the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) which became a reality in 1973 with Maurice Strong as its first Executive Director. Not surprisingly, Nairobi, Strong's headquarters twenty-years earlier, was chosen for the permanent headquarters of the UNEP.

After establishing UNEP and setting its agenda, Strong returned to Canada where he resumed chairmanship of both Petro-Canada and the IDRC. He was introduced to Scott Spangler, who ran a Texas company called ProChemCo. Strong's partnership, Stronat, bought ProChemCo, and changed the name to Procor, which immediately entered into a complex $10 million deal to acquire AZL, also known as the Arizona-Colorado Land and Cattle Company. AZL's major stockholder was Adnan Khashoggi. In the end, AZL acquired Procor, but Strong landed in control of the conglomerate which owned feed lots, land, gas and oil interests, engineering firms, and 200,000 acres which included the Baca ranch in Colorado. Amid this multi-national deal making, Strong became a Vice President of the World Wildlife Fund (WWF), a post he held until 1981.

In 1983, Strong was appointed to the U.N.'s World Commission on Environment and Development, headed by Gro Harlem Brundtland, Vice President of the World Socialist Party. Strong also had a colleague appointed as Executive Director, Warren "Chip" Lindner, an American lawyer, based in Geneva who had handled an intricate merger for Strong and who later went to work for the World Wildlife Fund in Gland, Switzerland. Strong, and the World Wildlife Fund, were largely responsible for the content of the Brundtland Commission's final report, Our Common Future. Before the report was released, Strong was looking to the future.

At a luncheon with Swedish Prime Minister Ingvar Carlsson in 1986, Strong proposed another world conference on the environment to be held on the 20th anniversary of the Stockholm Conference. Both Sweden and Canada wanted to host the event, but Strong's visit to Collor de Mello, prospective Brazilian President, convinced Strong that the event should be held in Rio de Janeiro. Dewar says: "I was beginning to understand that the Rio Summit was part of a Rockefeller-envisioned Global Governance Agenda that dated back before World War II...."

As Strong organized the Rio Conference, he utilized his vast network to ensure the outcome. His office bought Bella Abzug's airplane tickets to attend a preparatory meeting in Geneva. He asked her to schedule a special conference in Miami for women through her recently formed NGO called Women's Environment and Development Organization (WEDO). Another NGO formed by Abzug in 1981, the Women's USA Fund, had been almost dormant until 1991, when the NGO received nearly $1 million. He arranged for the creation of the Business Council on Sustainable Development. Strong's long-time colleague, and former cabinet minister to Pierre Trudeau, J. Hugh Faulkner, was asked to leave his post as Executive Director of the International Chamber of Commerce to take charge of the new organization. The new organization was immediately accredited to the Rio Conference and designated to advise Strong who "needed people with their feet on the ground to do a reality check on these U.N. guys." The Canadian Participatory Committee for UNCED (CPCU) was entirely funded by the Canadian government and consisted of carefully selected individuals who represented various NGOs.

The practice started by Strong at the 1972 conference, of cloaking the agenda in the perception of public grassroots support from NGOs, culminated in Rio in 1992, with the largest collection of NGOs ever assembled in support of Agenda 21. Only those NGOs that were "accredited" by the U.N. Conference were permitted to attend. And only those which had demonstrated support for the agenda were funded. Dewar calls these NGOs -- PGOs -- Private Government Organizations.

Strong has influence with the major Foundations which provide the funding for NGOs and he has influence with the major international NGOs that coordinate the activities of the thousands of smaller NGOs around the world. Strong has served, or is currently on the Board of Directors of the International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN); the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF); and the World Resources Institute (WRI); the three international NGOs that have developed and advanced the global agenda since the early 1970s.

Strong also served on the U.N.-funded Commission on Global Governance, co-chaired by Ingvar Carlsson, and Shirdath Ramphal, former President of the IUCN. The Commission's final report, Our Global Neighborhood, sets forth detailed plans to achieve what is called "Global Governance." In his new position as Senior Advisor to Kofi Annan, Strong is again well positioned to implement the agenda he has been developing by calling its implementation "reform." Undoubtedly, Strong's NGO network, funded by Foundations and governments tied to Strong's worldwide interests, will be used to promote the agenda at the national level and at the U.N. level.

One of the first steps likely to be taken will be a recommendation to dissolve the U.N. Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC). This cumbersome body is one of five original organs of the U.N. designated to oversee economic and social programs. Activities in these areas have expanded to the extent that programs such as the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and the United Nations Development Program, and several others, now have their own budgets, staff, and independent headquarters facilities. ECOSOC has become a useless layer of bureaucracy. Strong will be praised for eliminating this waste.

In reality, the move will simply pave the way to strengthen the U.N.'s power and will actually result in more expense. The functions of ECOSOC will be divided between a newly created Economic Security Council, and a reorganized Trusteeship Council. In other words, we will praise the publicly touted "reform" of eliminating one U.N. agency, but probably never even be told of the new activities of two new councils. This projection is based upon published recommendations of the U.N.-funded Commission on Global Governance -- of which Maurice Strong was a member. The implementation of this "reform" will require an amendment to the U.N. Charter.

The G-77 nations, which represent 135 of the 185 member nations of the U.N. held a conference in Costa Rica in January [7] to outline amendments to Article 13 of the U.N. Charter which will be necessary to bring about global governance as described in Our Global Neighborhood. Costa Rica is the international headquarters of Strong's most recent NGO, Earth Council, and the U.N. University, where a portion of the conference was held. Among the other recommendations of the Commission on Global Governance is the elimination of the veto power of the five permanent members of the U.N. Security Council, and a review of the entire concept of permanent member status in ten years. Another recommendation would make decisions of the International Court of Justice binding on all nations. Still another would create an International Criminal Court, and a U.N. standing army, and another would provide for independent finance in the form of various global taxation schemes.

Strong has worked diligently and effectively to bring his ideas to fruition. He is now in a position to implement them. His speeches and writings provide a clear picture of what to expect. In 1991, Strong wrote the introduction to a book published by the Trilateral Commission, called Beyond Interdependence: The Meshing of the World's Economy and the Earth's Ecology, by Jim MacNeil. (David Rockefeller wrote the foreword). Strong said this:

"This interlocking...is the new reality of the century, with profound implications for the shape of our institutions of governance, national and international. By the year 2012, these changes must be fully integrated into our economic and political life."

He told the opening session of the Rio Conference (Earth Summit II) in 1992, that industrialized countries have:

"developed and benefited from the unsustainable patterns of production and consumption which have produced our present dilemma. It is clear that current lifestyles and consumption patterns of the affluent middle class -- involving high meat intake, consumption of large amounts of frozen and convenience foods, use of fossil fuels, appliances, home and work-place air-conditioning, and suburban housing -- are not sustainable. A shift is necessary toward lifestyles less geared to environmentally damaging consumption patterns."

In an essay by Strong entitled Stockholm to Rio: A Journey Down a Generation, he says:

"Strengthening the role the United Nations can play...will require serious examination of the need to extend into the international arena the rule of law and the principle of taxation to finance agreed actions which provide the basis for governance at the national level. But this will not come about easily. Resistance to such changes is deeply entrenched. They will come about not through the embrace of full blown world government, but as a careful and pragmatic response to compelling imperatives and the inadequacies of alternatives."

"The concept of national sovereignty has been an immutable, indeed sacred, principle of international relations. It is a principle which will yield only slowly and reluctantly to the new imperatives of global environmental cooperation. What is needed is recognition of the reality that in so many fields, and this is particularly true of environmental issues, it is simply not feasible for sovereignty to be exercised unilaterally by individual nation-states, however powerful. The global community must be assured of environmental security."[8]

Maurice Strong has demonstrated an uncanny ability to manipulate people, institutions, governments, and events to achieve the outcome he desires. Through his published writings and public presentations he has declared his desire to empower the U.N. as the global authority to manage a new era of global governance. He has positioned his NGO triumvirite, the IUCN, WWF, and the WRI, to varnish U.N. activity with the perception of "civil society" respectability. And now he has been appointed Senior Advisor to the U.N. Secretary General and assigned the responsibility of reforming the United Nations bureaucracy. The fox has been given the assignment, and all the tools necessary, to repair the henhouse to his liking.

Robert McKay - Chair

Mr. McKay is the president of the McKay Family Foundation, which supports community-based organizations working for long-term social, economic, and political progress in California. In addition, He
funds a variety of issue advocacy and other work that promotes civic
engagement and voter participation. In 2002, Mr. McKay was the author
and principal funder of a California ballot initiative to promote
Election Day voter registration. He is the managing partner of the McKay
Investment Group, which provides venture capital for early-stage
technology and consumer product companies. Mr. McKay was Chair of the
2004 California HAVA Advisory Committee, and is active on many corporate
and non-profit boards, including Ms. Foundation for Women, San
Francisco Art Institute, Salon Media Group, and Mother Jones magazine.

 

Anna Burger - Vice Chair

Called "the most powerful woman in the labor movement" by Fortune Magazine, Burger is Secretary-Treasurer of SEIU and Chair of Change to Win which represents six million workers and develops
organizing campaigns aimed at ensuring that workers benefit from today's
global economy. Burger also oversees SEIU's political operations and
grassroots election work, which helped elect President Obama and
candidates nationwide. An outspoken voice on the role unions can play to
restore economic fairness, Burger serves on the President's Economic
Recovery Advisory Board. Burger began her career in 1972 as a
Pennsylvania state caseworker before she became SEIU Local 668's first
female president.

 

Steven Phillips - Secretary

Steve Phillips is an attorney and political organizer in San Francisco. He is the President and Founder of PowerPAC.org. Over the past twenty years, Steve has worked as an education reformer, attorney,
and elected official.

In 1992, at the age of 28, Steve successfully ran for a seat on the San Francisco Board of Education, and he became the youngest elected official in the history of San Francisco. Steve attended
Hastings College of the Law, and, in 1997, he opened the Law Offices of
Steve Phillips where he practiced civil rights and employment
discrimination law. As an attorney, Steve successfully litigated against
a broad number of entities ranging from municipalities to multi-million
dollar corporations.

Steve has written nearly 100 columns and essays that have been published in newspapers across the country. In 2003, Steve founded PowerPAC.org, a statewide social justice organization working with
community organizations and activists to build political power in
California.

 

Drummond Pike - Treasurer

Drummond Pike is founder and chief executive officer of Tides Network. Awarded as an Outstanding Foundation Professional, Drummond helped pioneer the advent of donor advised funds in philanthropy; and,
through his leadership, Tides has helped increase the capacity and
effectiveness of thousands of social change organizations. Prior to
founding Tides in 1976, Drummond served as executive director of the
Shalan Foundation, an organization dedicated to economic change and
environmental sustainability. Drummond also co-founded and served as
associate director for The Youth Project in Washington, D.C.; and he was
among the original founders of Working Assets, a telecommunications
company dedicated to progressive philanthropy and political activism.
His extensive public service work includes membership on several boards
of directors, including the Environmental Working Group and Democracy
Alliance. Drummond received a Masters of Political Science from the
Eagleton Institute at Rutgers University after graduating with Honors
from the University of California, Santa Cruz.

 

Quinn Delaney

Quinn Delaney is president of Akonadi Foundation, which
supports organizations building a movement to eliminate structural racism and
create a racially just society. She has also been very active in the
ACLU for
many years. Quinn likes to work collaboratively on issues of racial
justice,
civil liberties and building a progressive infrastructure, both
nationally and
in her home state of California.

 

James D. Gollin

James D. Gollin was educated at Princeton University, the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies and Kokusai Daigaku (International University of Japan) as well as in France and Italy.
After work at a number of think tanks in Japan and the US, Mr. Gollin
joined Nomura Securities in Tokyo and then Morgan Stanley. He managed
securities funds as well as M&A, real estate, resort development and
other projects. He has worked in socially responsible business and
environmentally-friendly venture capital.

Mr. Gollin is a Director of the Angelica Foundation, funding environmental, pro-democracy and human rights groups in the Southwest U.S. and Mexico. He is President of the Board of Rainforest Action
Network, where he has overseen successful campaigns leading to landmark
agreements between environmentalists and major industries. He is
actively working to build progressive infrastructure in New Mexico,
where he lives. He is also an award-winning writer and photographer

Nick Hanauer

Nicolas "Nick" Hanauer is a Seattle-based serial entrepreneur, venture capitalist, author and activist with a knack for identifying and building transformative business models.

In 1995, Hanauer became the first non-family investor in Amazon.com where he served as a Board Advisor until January 2000. During the same time period, he founded and served as CEO of aQuantive, Inc (originally
Avenue A Media) and a short time later founded Gear.com. aQuantive was
acquired by Microsoft in August 2007 for $6.4 billion, the largest
acquisition in Microsoft history, and Gear.com merged with Overstock.com
in 2001.

He co-founded Second Avenue Partners in 2000 and his current investment portfolio includes HouseValues.com, Ice Energy, Modumetal, and Qliance Medical. Prior portfolio companies Insitu Group and Newsvine
were respectively sold to Boeing in 2008 and MSNBC.com (Microsoft and
NBC Universal) in 2007. He currently serves as a board member and
advisor to House Values.com and Qliance Medical and is vice chairman of
Marchex.

Hanauer began his career in Sales and Marketing at the Pacific Coast Feather Company and still serves as the company's Co-Chairman and Chief Strategy Officer. In 1988, he co-founded Museum Quality Framing Company,
which is the largest of its kind on the west coast with 60 stores.
Hanauer directs a significant portion of his time to social and policy
issues. In 2007, he co-authored "The True Patriot" with Eric Liu
(currently in its second printing) and co-founded The True Patriot
Network, a non-partisan group committed to furthering patriotic ideals.
He also co-founded the Washington State League of Education Voters
(LEV), a non-partisan statewide political organization focused on
promoting public education, where he serves as co-president. Hanauer
also serves on the boards of the Cascade Land Conservancy, The
University of Washington Foundation, The Seattle Alliance for Education,
The University of Arizona's Mt Lemmon Science Center and the
Biosphere2; a University of Arizona climate research project.

A Seattle-area native, Hanauer is an avid adventure traveler, who has visited more than 60 countries, a fly fisherman and an amateur astronomer. He and his wife, Leslie, reside in the Seattle area with
their two children.

 

Ted Trimpa

Ted Trimpa practices in all areas of federal, state, and local legislative law, with a special concentration on public policy, political strategy, and political participation. He has extensive
multistate experience and handles legislative matters on behalf of firm
clients before the Colorado General Assembly and legislatures throughout
the country.

Ted is a sought-after advocate resulting from his deep understanding of the national and multistate political and nonprofit landscape. He has been recognized in national publications, including The Atlantic
Monthly, National Review, The Advocate, and The Weekly Standard for his
central role in designing cutting edge public policy strategies.

Prior to joining Hogan & Hartson, Ted was a shareholder with a national firm where he was responsible for matters before the Colorado General Assembly and had a multistate public policy practice. Ted has
orchestrated the successful passage of several public initiatives,
including major social policy changes and landmark reforms to state
fiscal policy. He also previously served as the Director of Regulatory
Affairs and Assistant General Counsel for a prominent lobbying firm in
Colorado. Before attending law school, Ted served as a legislative aide
for United States Senator Nancy Landon Kassebaum.

 

Michael Vachon

Michael Vachon has extensive experience in politics, communications, and philanthropy. He currently serves as George Soros' political director. He advises Mr. Soros and the Soros family on political
contributions and maintains contact on their behalf with the individuals
and organizations they support. Mr. Vachon also manages Mr. Soros'
media relations, public appearances, and publishing activities and
serves as the spokesman for the Soros family and for Soros Fund
Management (SFM). Prior to joining SFM, he was head of public affairs
and a member of the executive committee of The Commonwealth Fund. Before
that he was director of communications at the Open Society Institute.
Before joining the foundation he worked as a journalist. Mr. Vachon
holds an MA in international relations from Columbia University's
School
of International
and Public Affairs, where he teaches a graduate course
in communications strategy.

 

Rob Stein - Founder

Mr. Stein's critical research about the funding, management, and overall infrastructure of the conservative movement over the last three decades led to the formation of the Democracy Alliance. An attorney, Mr.
Stein served as chief of staff of the U.S. Department of Commerce and
chief of staff at the Washington office of the Clinton-Gore Transition.
He also was a senior strategic advisor to Ron Brown, Chairman of the
Democratic National Committee (1989-1992), and has founded and led
several non-profit organizations. Mr. Stein currently is actively
involved, as both Founder and board member, in the Democracy Alliance.

Joycelyn Bassette Blizzard - Partner and Investment Services Associate

Joycelyn Blizzard has an extensive background in both state and local politics, and experience in both public policy and fundraising. Joycelyn is responsible for supporting the Partner and Investment
Services teams and will assist with events and researching Alliance
investment opportunities. Prior to joining the Alliance team, Joycelyn
worked for Governor Timothy Kaine of Virginia as Special Assistant for
Constituent Services and in the office of the Secretary of
Administration. There she worked on numerous projects including Governor
Kaine's Small, Women, and Minority Business initiatives and dedication
events for the Civil Rights Memorial. Committed to improving the lives
of young people, Joycelyn currently serves as one of the youngest board
members of the Commonwealth Girl Scout Council and initiated and led the
fundraising efforts for inner city youth leadership development
programs in Richmond, VA. Joycelyn also developed and implemented a
youth leadership curriculum.
Joycelyn obtained her B.A. in Leadership Studies and History from
University of Richmond and is currently earning a Masters of Public
Administration at Virginia Tech University. She is married to Linwood
Blizzard, II and enjoys traveling, swimming, and live jazz.

 

Anathea Chino - Manager, Partner Services

Anathea Chino came to the Alliance with significant political and fundraising experience at both the state and local level. Her responsibilities include helping to develop the strategic plan for
member engagement and facilitating collaboration between Alliance
members and recommended organizations.

Prior to joining the Alliance, Anathea worked as the Development Director at NARAL Pro-Choice New Mexico and as President and founding Board Member of Emerge New Mexico, a women's political leadership
program. Anathea began her business career in retail management at
Neiman Marcus in Las Vegas, NV and launched her career change in 2004 by
moving to Nea Makri, Greece.

Anathea is committed to public service and continues to advocate for women and her Native American community as an Ambassador for Americans for Indian Opportunity. She has worked extensively on promoting civic
engagement within the Native American communities in New Mexico and
nationwide.

She received her Bachelor's Degree from New Mexico State University. As a transplant to Washington, DC Anathea enjoys all things DC.

 

Kelly Craighead - Managing Director

As a member of the founding management team, Ms. Craighead has helped provide the leadership, strategic vision, and management capacity necessary to grow the Alliance into one of the largest drivers of
progressive activist funding supporting institutions that strengthen
democracy and build the overall capacity of the progressive movement.
Ms. Craighead joined the Democracy Alliance after working as a strategic
consultant to Media Matters for America, where she delivered critical
seed-financing during its start-up phase. Prior to that, she worked for
Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, during both her tenure as First Lady
and later at her leadership PAC after she was elected to the United
States Senate. In the White House, with the rank of Deputy Assistant to
the President, Ms. Craighead was the Director of Special Projects and
managed special domestic and international initiatives on behalf of the
President and First Lady. In addition, Ms. Craighead spent 1992-2000
directing all aspects of Mrs. Clinton's travels abroad and in the
United
States
, and has traveled herself to more than 100 countries. She lives
with her family in Washington, DC.

 

Kimberly Douglas - Office Manager

Kimberly Douglas has experience in customer service, special events, meeting planning, administration, operations and systems management in both nonprofit & corporate organizations. While attending Frostburg
State University
, Kimberly worked at WPGC 95.5 FM as a broadcast news
intern. After graduation, Kimberly worked at the Association of Clinical
Research Professionals, where she served as ACRPs 1st Education
Services Representative. Kimberly was instrumental in helping design and
implement ACRP's Customer Service Center. In 2005, Kimberly joined the
Forum for Youth Investment as their Office/Meetings Manager and served
as the primary liaison between staff and external vendors. Kimberly also
worked as the Administrative Director for the Population Institute.

Kimberly has a Masters degree in Organizational Communications and Human Resources from Bowie State University and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mass Communications, Ballet and Modern Dance from Frostburg
State University
.

 

Matt Ewing - Director of New Media Ventures

Matt Ewing is the director of New Media Ventures, a Democracy Alliance project focused on investing in early stage new media organizations. Previously he was the national field director at MoveOn.
Over his 5 years at MoveOn, Matt developed the organization's innovative
national grassroots organizing model and helped to design and direct
the 2006 and 2008 GOTV campaigns. He is a graduate of Grinnell College
and Green Corps, the field school for environmental organizing. He is
also a former Senior Fellow at the New Organizing Institute.

 

Kathryn Greenberg - Senior Vice President, Partner Services

Kathryn Greenberg joined the Alliance with an extensive background in development, communications, and public policy. As the Director of Partner Services Kathryn will design and implement a strategy to develop
and grow the partnership, facilitate building the Partner network and
community, and manage overall Partner services efforts and activities.

Prior to joining the Alliance, Kathryn was the Director of Development and External Affairs at the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities where she worked to strengthen institutional fundraising and
outreach efforts; she was the Managing Director of Internal &
External Communications at the Chicago Housing Authority where she
helped to transform Chicago's public housing by directing resource
development, policy, and communications; and Kathryn directed school
health and public housing health initiatives for the Chicago Department
of Public Health. Kathryn brings extensive management experience having
overseen large departments at both the Chicago Housing Authority and the
Chicago Department of Public Health.

Kathryn received her Bachelor's degree from New York University and has a Masters in Public Administration from New York University's Robert F. Wagner School of Public Service.

 

Dominic Lowell - Analyst, Investment Services

Dominic Lowell conducts research and analysis for the Investment Services team. Prior to joining the Alliance, Dominic attended Swarthmore College where he was active in local and campus politics,
organizing students during the 2008 presidential primary and serving as
his senior class' president. He comes to the Alliance from the Center
for Progressive Leadership where he was a New Leaders Fellow.
Dominic is a native of Salt Lake City, Utah, but his heart now belongs
to Washington, DC where he enjoys long-distance running, winter bowling
leagues, and far too many political blogs. He is a graduate of
Swarthmore College where he received his B.A. in sociology/anthropology.

 

Ashindi Maxton - Director of Research and Special Projects

Ashindi coordinates Alliance research efforts, and manages special project efforts. Ashindi came to the Alliance from the NAACP where she was the National Policy Manager for the NAACP, and was responsible for
coordinating the cross-cutting work of multiple departments including
civic engagement, education, health, international affairs, economic
empowerment, and criminal justice. Ashindi's diverse career path also
includes positions as the National Policy Director for Teach for
America, where she helped set the research and policy agenda of a
national organization dedicated to eliminating the educational
achievement gap; and as the principal of an arts charter school in
Washington DC, implementing a curriculum focused on the visual arts,
music, poetry, and architecture.

Ashindi is proud to have been a Spanish bilingual teacher in East Oakland, California, and is amazed that the students she taught in 5th grade are already graduating from high school. Prior to becoming a
teacher, Ashindi was a Fulbright Scholar to the Dominican Republic where
she completed the first national study of "Race Consciousness in
Dominican Children". She graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Vassar College
with a degree in Africana Studies and holds a Masters in Public Policy
from the University of California, Berkeley.

 

Shannon Roche - Chief Operating Officer

Shannon Roche oversees staffing, financial management activities, Board communications, and works with the Managing Director on organizational development and to implement the strategic plan for the
Alliance staff. Prior to joining the Alliance, Shannon led the
fundraising efforts of NYC2012, the committee that worked to bring the
2012 Olympics to New York, and has served in various organizational
management, member services and fundraising roles for the DNC, Gore2000
and the Advisory Board Company. Shannon has also consulted in a range of
economic development-related capacities for several organizations,
including the Enterprise Social Investment Corporation (ESIC),
New York
City
's Department of Small Business Services and the host committee for
the 2004 Democratic National Convention.

Shannon received a B.A., cum laude, from Duke University and an M.P.P. from Harvard's Kennedy School of Government with an emphasis on organizational management and urban development. In her free time, she
enjoys reading contemporary fiction, practicing yoga and is an ardent
foodie. She lives in Washington, DC with her husband and their son.

 

Ryan Rodriguez - Director of Meetings and Special Events

Ryan Rodriguez is responsible for coordinating the Democracy Alliance's semi-annual conferences, assisting with regional events, and working on other partner engagement activities. Prior to joining the
Democracy Alliance, Ryan was the National Events Manager for EMILY's
List, where he organized their national conferences, their major annual
DC luncheon, and a variety of other fundraising events around the
country. Ryan has significant fundraising experience, having worked as
the finance director and on the finance staff for a number of
congressional races including Gwen Moore (WI-04, the first African
American woman elected to the US House from Wisconsin), Eleanor Jordan
(KY-03), and Christine Jennings (FL-13). Before getting his start in
politics, Ryan spent several years at the Smithsonian Institution where
he secured corporate sponsorships and organized opening receptions
across the country for the Smithsonian's traveling exhibition service.
Ryan has a B.A. in political science from the American University. Ryan
is a native of Wisconsin and currently lives in Washington, DC. In his
free time he enjoys reading historical non-fiction about the War of
1812.

 

Andi Ryder - Director, Membership Development

As Director of Membership Development, Andi is responsible for managing and executing a strategic plan to grow and expand the Alliance Partnership. Prior to joining the Democracy Alliance, Andi worked at
National Park Foundation managing their donor relations and
Stewardship
Circle
program. She has a long history in fundraising, having previously
worked at United Way of Buffalo to strength the Leadership giving
program; regional theatre where she helped to create a membership/patron
program; and Planned Parenthood in Niagara County where she managed
development and public affairs initiatives.

Andi is a recent transplant to Washington, DC from Western New York. She received her BA in political science from Niagara University.

 

Frank Smith - Consultant (Investment Services)

Francis Smith has been involved in political and public policy issues throughout his career. He is President of a Cambridge, Massachusetts consulting firm specializing in election and non-profit law and policy
work. He has served as an Assistant District Attorney in Boston and
worked on a number of political campaigns, including two Presidential
elections. He is co-author of a recent book on the American healthcare
system and writes a monthly newsletter on American politics. He is a
graduate of Georgetown University and Boston College Law School, and a
member of the Massachusetts Bar. He has served on a number of
non-governmental organization boards.

 

Alexandra Visher - Director of Communications and Strategic Partnerships

Alexandra Visher is responsible for developing and managing the Alliance's internal and external strategic communications plans. Prior to joining the Alliance, Alexandra was the deputy communications
director and policy director for a United States Senate campaign. In
that capacity she was responsible for managing the strategic
communications plan for earned and paid media, as well as developing
comprehensive policy papers on education, healthcare, and energy. In
between campaign adventures, Alexandra worked in the development office
of a progressive think-tank and advocacy organization, and assisted with
their major gift solicitation efforts. During the 2004 presidential
campaign Alex worked as a press secretary in Wisconsin during the
general election, and worked on voter mobilization and outreach efforts
during the Iowa caucuses. Before heading out on the campaign trail,
Alexandra spent several years at a leading media consulting firm where
she helped provide a range of strategic communication consulting
services to candidates and issue campaigns. Alexandra is a native of
Oakland, California and now lives in Washington, DC. She has B.A. in
political science from the University of California, Berkeley and
studied at the University of Paris, La Sorbonne. In her free time, Alex
enjoys yoga, reading, traveling, volunteering, and spending time
outdoors.

 

Felicia Wong - Senior Vice President, Investment Services

Felicia Wong manages the research and development of the Alliance's strategic investment portfolio and has led the restructuring of the DA's investment process over the last year.

Prior to joining the Alliance, she was Vice President, Operations and Vice President, Product Development at Teachscape, a K-12 education services company. In these roles, she was responsible for the
company's annual operating plan and the development and delivery of all
company products. Felicia served as a White House Fellow in the Office
of the Attorney General and held a political appointment in the Office
of the Secretary of the Navy. Felicia has extensive classroom
experience, having taught on race and politics at U.C. Berkeley as well
as high school history and philosophy in
Oakland, California
. She and
her husband also taught English to Tibetan children in Tagong,
Ganze
Prefecture
, China
.

Felicia holds an M.A. and Ph.D. in political science from the University of California, Berkeley, where she specialized in international relations, comparative politics, and political theory. Her
doctoral dissertation, which focused on the politics of race and
framing in K-12 urban education reform, received the 2000 American
Political Science Association award in Race, Ethnicity, and Politics.
She received her undergraduate degree with Honors from
Stanford
University
and lives in San Francisco, California with her husband and

100 Congressional Seats Up for Grabs in Next Tuesday's Primaries -- Check Out Our Candidate Comparison Pages

Next Tuesday, 10 states will hold Primary elections for nearly 1/4 of all U.S. House seats.

NumbersUSA has a huge treasure trove of new CANDIDATE COMPARISON PAGES that compare the immigration positions of candidates in races with important immigration implications. We've completed comparison grids for all the Senate primaries as well as races where candidates have completed our Immigration-Reduction Survey. Over the next month, we hope to have all 435 House races on our website, but we'll need your help to fill up the grids.

Please check our election section for the congressional and gubernatorial races in your state this year. Most of the candidates have thus far declined to take our immigration survey. Candidates -- especially incumbents -- generally won't take a survey unless they feel tremendous constituency pressure. So, we are depending on you to take the steps noted on these Candidate Comparison Pages to push candidates to fill out the survey and be publicly counted.

Be sure you vote every time the polls open this year. Turnout will be fairly light. We need to make sure that NumbersUSA members are a disproportonate part of the voting public.

While California's 53 Congressional seats, a Senate seat, and the Governor's mansion are all up for grabs, much of Tuesday's focus will be in Nevada where Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid is fighting for his life, and his November opponent will be chosen. Since Arizona passed its new immigration enforcement law, Sen. Reid has pushed for a mass amnesty in an attempt to motivate Hispanic voters in Nevada. Check out the candidate comparison page to see how Sen. Reid ranks and his potential Republican opponents.

In California, illegal immigration has become a key issue in the state's gubernatorial race as candidates debate ways to solve the state's fiscal problems. Republican candidates have taken strong stands, while Independent candidate Chelene Nightingale has taken the strongest stand by completing our Immigration-Reduction survey. In Arkansas, Democratic Senator Blanche Lincoln looks to keep her re-election bid intact in a run-off against Bill Halter. The winner of Tuesday's run-off will face Immigration Champion and current House Rep. John Boozman in the general election.

Primaries are also being held in Iowa, Maine, Montana, North Dakota, New Jersey, South Carolina, South Dakota, and Virginia.

As we forge ahead to November, it’s important to remember why we put so much emphasis on elections: when a pro-life majority takes back Congress, we will be able stop anti-Life laws in their tracks, and pass legislation to truly protect the unborn.

While we work to elect more pro-life representatives, we must continue to support the wonderful pro-life Members of Congress currently serving, who work every day to protect Life. Here are some of the pro-life laws these stalwarts have been working on:

The Protect Life Act (H.R. 5111)—Rep. Joe Pitts (PA-16)

  • Because so called “pro-life” Democrats gave in to President Obama’s ineffective executive order in the last hours of the health care debate, this bill is necessary to make sure no federal funds or subsidies go toward abortion. 
  • This bill would ensure that no federal funds go toward elective abortion, prevent any federal agency from mandating abortion, and protect the consciences of healthcare workers in the health care bill. 
  • Currently this bill has 108 bi-partisan co-sponsors.

Codification of the Hyde Amendment—It is essential that pro-life legislators work to make the Hyde Amendment, and similar pro-life riders, permanent law. 

  • The current pro-abortion Administration and Congress are trying to chip away at pro-life provisions while they still have power.  This was made clear during the health care debate. 
  • Because they must be renewed each year, pro-life appropriations riders such as the Hyde Amendment, can easily be removed from legislation.
  • If these riders are made permanent law, it will take a lot more effort to get rid of them. 
  • Making the Hyde Amendment permanent law is one of Susan B. Anthony List’s top priorities.

The Unborn Child Pain Awareness Act of 2010 (H.R. 5276)—Rep. Chris Smith (NJ-04)

  • The bill ensures that women who are seeking an abortion are made aware that a child may be able to feel pain at 20 weeks of gestation and allows a woman to choose anesthesia for the baby if they decide to go through with the procedure.
  • A Fetal Pain bill recently became law in Nebraska drawing attention to this important issue.

It is essential for pro-life voters to stay engaged through November and beyond, when we will have a real chance to accomplish all the goals outlined above.  In the meantime, here’s a look at two of the most time sensitive issues facing the pro-life movement right now:

Elena Kagan’s Supreme Court confirmation hearingsThe Senate Judiciary Committee is preparing for Elena Kagan’s confirmation hearings.  Ms. Kagan has made many concerning statements in the past regarding abortion.

  • She publicly criticized a 1991 Supreme Court ruling, Rust v. Sullivan that upheld the right of the Department of Health and Human Services to restrict funding from groups that performed or promoted abortion.  
  • While clerking for avidly pro-abortion Supreme Court Justice Thurgood Marshall, she suggested the Supreme Court not review a case regarding taxpayer funding of prisoners' abortions even though she thought the case had some legal flaws because “this case is likely to become the vehicle that this Court uses to create some very bad law on abortion.” 
  • She advised President Clinton to support the Daschle Amendment to the Partial Birth Abortion Ban Act in order to give the President cover when he rejected the overall bill.
  • Senators on the Judiciary Committee must ask Kagan tough questions to get at the heart of her judicial philosophy. 

Department of Defense Authorization bill—The Senate will soon vote on this authorization bill, which contains a provision to allow elective abortion to be performed on domestic and international military bases.  

  • This is a drastic change from current military protocol  
  • If elective abortion is permitted on military bases, your tax dollars will be used to pay abortion practitioners, purchase abortion equipment, and fund facilities where abortions are performed. 
  • We do not want military hospitals to become abortion mills domestically or abroad.
  • Medical facilities on military bases are meant to be places of healing not destruction and death.

In order to protect the most unborn lives we must elect pro-life leaders and then stay engaged to ensure genuine, pro-life legislation is passed. Boyd, please take action now by using the Susan B. Immigration & Last Night's Primary Results

In the biggest Primary day of the year, voters seemed to nudge a bit in the direction of immigration policies that protect U.S. workers and communities.

But the fact that nearly all incumbents were renominated by their Parties means that real change on immigration will depend on the General elections in the autumn.

Whether the General Election challengers to incumbents will offer voters a clear choice for immigration reductions will depend largely on whether citizens push candidates to commit themselves publicly and take the NumbersUSA immigration survey. Go to our congressional elections pages to see if your favorite candidates have taken the survey. If not, contact them and insist they do so.

MANY DEMOCRATIC CANDIDATES TOOK OUR PRO-ENFORCEMENT SIDE

We had a lot of Democratic candidates who filled out our immigration survey and pledged to help us with our goals. They were challenging Democratic incumbents who are pro-amnesty. It was an uphill battle for our Democratic friends going against the money and connections of an incumbent in a Primary. But it was most gratifying to see more and more pro-enforcement, pro-reduction candidates showing up on the Democratic side of the ballot.

Below is based on observations from our Legislative Analyst Jonathan Osborn and our Website Editor Chris Chmielenski about yesterday's Primary election results.

Arkansas:
Sen. Blanche Lincoln's 52% squeaker/shocker win in the Democratic Run-Off means that Arkansas voters will have a very clear choice on immigration in the autumn. It would have been less clear if Lt. Gov. Halter had won because he has been careful to avoid taking a position on most immigration issues. But if he had won, he would have owed the SEIU labor union everything, and that union has been the most vigorous in pushing for an amnesty.

Voters won't have to wonder about Sen. Lincoln, who has earned a D-minus Immigration-Reduction Grade during these last two Congresses.

She will be facing the winner of the Republican Primary, U.S. Rep. John Boozeman who has earned an A+ grade.

Furthermore, Rep. Boozeman is a member of our "5-for-5 Club," having co-sponsored all of our "5 Great Immigration-Reduction Bills."

In addition, Rep. Boozeman has earned our True Reformer label by taking our candidate immigration survey and promising to help us on all 12 of our top goals.

Boozman currently has a 20+ lead in the polls over Lincoln.

Nevada:
Here's another state that will get a clear immigration choice in November when Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid will have to defend his seat.

Reid's Immigration-Reduction Grade over the last two Congresses is an F-minus! And he continues to be the main person in Washington clamoring for an amnesty and an increase in foreign workers during 10% unemployment.

Sharron Angle won the GOP nomination yesterday to challenge Reid in the autumn. She is the opposite of Reid on immigration, having taken our survey, agreed to help us on all of our goals and earning the title of True Reformer. She is leading Reid by two points in the polls.

California

Meg Whitman didn't fill out a survey, but does rate "Yes" on three issues and has taken a very strong stand since SB1070. True Reformer Steve Poizner finished second and pushed Whitman to take the strong stand on immigration.

Carly Fiorina won the GOP nomination, but hasn't said much about immigration. She has traditionally been shaky on immigration, but was pulled in our direction during the Primary because her competitors were strongly on our side. Polls have her running within the margin of error against Boxer who has a D grade. Members of both political Parties need to push their candidates to compete with each other in promising more enforcement and less foreign-worker competition.

In the 27th District of the U.S. House, True Reformer Mark Reed won the GOP Primary.

In the 42nd District of the U.S. House, incumbent Gary Miller narrowly won the GOP Primary over Phil Liberatore. Both took our survey and qualify as True Reformers (http://www.numbersusa.com/content/elections/races/southwest/california/2010-california-42nd-district-primary.html)

She is running for Congress in Florida's 24th Congressional District and she is dynamic!!  I met with Karen two weeks ago and I promise you she is outstanding!! Smart, accomplished, and ready to put her business skills to work in Washington. Karen is tough on immigration and adamant about balancing the budget. Her principal opponent:  You guessed it-a pro-amnesty, open border restaurateur establishment Republican! Karen has substantially out-raised all her opponents, but she needs our help if she is to beat this pro-amnesty Republican! Early voting in the Florida primary begins on July 29th so Karen needs our help now as well.

 

These two candidates can win, but not without our help. If you want real immigration reformers representing us in Washington, help advance these two women into the general election.

The other situation I want to tell you about concerns the serious problem we have on our Southern border. Our Homeland Security head, Janet Napolitano, on March 26, 2010, proudly stated, "Last March, this administration took decisive action to combat transnational crime and drug-related violence along the Southwest border to help ensure the security of both the United States and Mexico.  Over the past year, our unprecedented cooperation with the Mexican government and sustained security efforts along the border have resulted in major progress in combating the ruthless cartels that threaten the safety of both our nations."

 

Within two days the world would hear of the senseless murder of Arizona rancher, Rob Krentz. To those who, in the shadow of this tragedy, would like to see some action to better protect and secure our border, Napolitan's response is significant in its absence (except for a small reward leading to the capture of individuals involved).

 Huck PAC has made national news and created quite a buzz with our conservative candidate endorsements.

Two such examples are U.S. Senate candidates Marco Rubio from Florida and Chuck DeVore from California. I chose to endorse them not because I thought they were the candidates most capable of winning but because they were the truly conservative candidates we need in office.

Like all Huck PAC endorsed candidates, Marco and Chuck are strong conservatives: pro-life, traditional marriage supporters, advocates for balanced budgets and reducing the size of a federal government. I was proud to stand with Marco Rubio when he was down by 25 points to his opponent. Now – Marco’s enormous popularity and massive lead in the polls actually forced his primary opponent – a sitting Republican Governor – to leave the Republican Party and try to run as an Independent.

Chuck might have a meteoric rise like Marco – only God knows the future – but I decided to support Chuck and Marco win or lose, because they are consistent conservatives who know what they believe and why they believe it.

Of course Washington has a different view. The pundits and some within the Republican Party think it’s a smarter strategy for my political future to go the other way and instead, endorse everyone that the establishment endorses. First of all, Huck PAC is not about my political future – it is about the future of our country. Second of all, I know I’m not the smartest kid on the block, but it seems like that predictable strategy of supporting establishment candidates is precisely what put our Party on the losing end of the 2006 and 2008 elections.

I know Nancy Pelosi wants us to run like we did in 2006 and 2008. I bet Harry Reid feels the same way and I am certain this White House, as political as it is, wants the Republican Party to run on a re-tread of ol d ideas and weak candidates.

Election Season Beginning to Heat Up

Several new polls show continued support for the immigration enforcement bill in Arizona, while concerns over illegal immigration continue to grow nationally. A Gallup poll from this week revealed that Americans rank immigration fifth on a list of important issues. It's the highest immigration has rated since the 2007 Amnesty battle - just in time for the mid-term elections.

Election season is beginning to heat up with several states holding primaries on Tuesday, May 18. This past week, we saw two long-time incumbents get knocked out, including Sen. Robert Bennett (R-Utah) who didn't receive the necessary votes at the state convention to enter the primary and 14-term Congressman Alan Mollohan (D-W.V.) who lost his primary bid. Both Members had poor immigration-reduction grades.

Voters in Pennsylvania, Arkansas, and Kentucky go to the polls on Tuesday. Senators Arlen Spector (D-Pa.) and Blanche Lincoln (D-Ark.) face tough primary battles, and Kentucky voters begin the process of replacing retiring Senator Jim Bunning.

We recruited more than 350 new volunteers last week for our Local Power Team's 8-week campaign called "S.T.O.P. Amensty in 2010! Countdown to Independence Day." The program’s focus is to make sure Members of Congress are hearing from their constituents who oppose Amnesty while back in their home districts.This weekend, for example, we have nearly 50 people attending Sen. John McCain’s town hall meetings.

Dear Patriots,

For many years I have been involved in my community
and have dedicated my time volunteering thousands of
hours into local clubs, the fair board, and task forces
with my city, etc... I was surprised that everyone
would show up for the organizational meetings where
the board or members would have an opportunity to
vote and be involved in crucial decisions. The interesting
aspect is when we would enact that decision and put on
that event or implement the decision these eager decision
makers or no where to be found. The few or roughly the
10% of the people end up doing all the work.

I see the same trend occurring now with the primary
elections and the lack of eager tea partiers to truly engage
and do the work necessary to have their candidate be elected
to the ballot for the General Election in November. This is
troublesome to me; I am concerned that everyone wants
a say, to complain, tea party with signs chants blogs, however,
falling short due to disengagement in the activities that can
and will ensure success.

It is time to put down your tea party sign and pick up your
conservative candidate sign, your phone receiver to phone
bank, fliers to pass out, conducting town forums, making a
contribution to support the campaign of your candidate, or
coalitions of local tea party groups working together to stand
behind a single candidate to ensure their success in the primary.
Without this action you will see nothing but democrats and
rinos staying in the system and continuing the same 'ole
same 'ole.

We know the tea party is mad, we know you want change,
we know you will rally, fly or drive and show up in DC for
a national event, write, fax, and call your legislators, etc...
We also know that you will phone bank from all the country
to support Scott Brown. What we have not seen so far in the
primaries as a whole is that same enthusiasm in the local
precincts to replace the rinos and radical democrats. Splitting
votes between 3 and 4 candidates will also not cause a
WIN for the movement.

It is time to regroup, plan in advance, and then engage.
We have a great opportunity to create change. What we
cannot do is cause it to happen by willing it into existence
without taking on the work to ensure it happens. Below are

These elections are local, but the effort needs to be
national in all the races just as it was for the race where
Scott Brown was elected. That was a mass effort of many
people nationally working together for the greater good.
We need that same dedication to create and cause the
same result nationwide.

If we lose in the upcoming primaries and in November
the entire Nation will discount the Tea Party and their
ability to truly cause change. Let us not find ourselves
in that position. Let us become engaged and step out of
our comfort zones and volunteer time we feel we don't
have because if we don't we will not have any time left
to create change if the democrats retain their majority in
the House and Senate.

When the General Election day has passed; I want to know
that I did everything in my power to ensure a different
outcome. That although we were not successful in every
market that overall we were successful. The the democrats
lost their super majority and there is a balance that creates
checks and balances in the Senate and House.

I hope you will seriously consider this letter and take measures,
starting today, that will show the country and the world that the
Tea Party movement is serious and that we are a significant
movement that creates change and not just more constipated
rhetoric in the system.

                           The Washington Post babbled again today

about Obama inheriting a huge deficit from Bush. Amazingly

enough,...... A lot of people swallow this nonsense. So once more, a short civics lesson.

 

                           Budgets do not come from the White House.

They come from Congress, and the party that controlled Congress since

January 2007 is the Democratic Party. They controlled the budget

process for FY 2008 and FY 2009, as well as FY 2010 and FY 2011. In

that first year, they had to contend with George Bush, which caused

them to compromise on spending, when Bush somewhat belatedly got

tough on spending increases.

 

                           For FY 2009 though, Nancy Pelosi and

Harry Reid bypassed George Bush entirely, passing continuing

resolutions to keep government running until Barack Obama could take

office. At that time, they passed a massive omnibus spending bill to

complete the FY 2009 budgets.

 

                           And where was Barack Obama during this time?

He was a member of that very Congress that passed all of these

massive spending bills, and he signed the omnibus bill as President

to complete FY 2009. Let's remember what the deficits looked like during that period:

                           If the Democrats inherited any deficit,

it was the FY 2007 deficit, the last of the Republican budgets.  That

deficit was the lowest in five years, and the fourth straight decline

in deficit spending. After that, Democrats in Congress took control

of spending, and that includes Barack Obama, who voted for the

budgets. If Obama inherited anything, he inherited it from himself.

 

                           In a nutshell, what Obama is saying is I

inherited a deficit that I voted for and then I voted to expand that

deficit four-fold since January 20th.

 

                           There is no way this will be widely

Word of the Day: Dhimmitude

Dhimmitude is the Muslim system of controlling non-muslim populations conquered through jihad. Specifically, it is the TAXING of non-muslims in exchange for tolerating their presence AND as a coercive means of converting conquered remnants to islam.

The ObamaCare bill is the establishment of Dhimmitude and Sharia muslim diktat in the
United States . Muslims are specifically exempted from the government mandate to purchase insurance, and also from the penalty tax for being uninsured. Islam considers insurance to be "gambling", "risk-taking" and "usury" and is thus banned. Muslims are specifically granted exemption based on this.


How convenient. So I, Ann Barnhardt, a Christian, will have crippling IRS liens placed against all of my assets, including real estate, cattle, and even accounts receivables, and will face hard prison time because I refuse to buy insurance or pay the penalty tax. Meanwhile, Louis Farrakhan will have no such penalty and will have 100% of his health needs paid for by the de facto government insurance. Non-muslims will be paying a tax to subsidize muslims. Period. This is Dhimmitude.

Dhimmitude serves two purposes: it enriches the muslim masters AND serves to drive conversions to islam. In this case, the incentive to convert to islam will be taken up by those in the inner-cities as well as the godless Generation X, Y and Z types who have no moral anchor. If you don't believe in Christ to begin with, it is no problem whatsoever to sell Him for 30 pieces of silver.. "Sure, I'll be a muslim if it means free health insurance and no taxes. Where do I sign, bro?"

Robert Byrd, Democrat of the Klan, (1917-2010)

Sen. Robert Byrd, a one time Kleagle and Exalted Cyclops of the Ku Klux Klan chapter he started in West Virginia, died last week at the age of 92. First elected to the Senate in 1958, he was in the middle of his ninth term and was the longest-serving senator in U.S. history. He has been hailed widely as the Senate's "respected" historian and a master of parliamentary procedure. Pork was his specialty, and numerous public works and buildings in West Virginia bear his name at the expense of the American taxpayer.

Bill Clinton argued in his eulogy that the ends justify the means: Byrd "once had a fleeting association with the Ku Klux Klan," merely because "he was trying to get elected." That's a backhanded compliment if ever there was one. While many editorialists want to consider Byrd's Klan days as "fleeting," his racist views lived on for many years. He was the only senator to vote against Thurgood Marshall and Clarence Thomas for the Supreme Court, and he personally filibustered the 1964 Civil Rights Act for 14 straight hours in an attempt to keep it from passing.

If the real Robert Byrd were as colorblind as the media wants us to believe he was, his memory might just deserve more reflection. To this point, one need only compare the media's largely laudatory coverage of Byrd's career to its highly critical remembrance of long-serving South Carolina Republican and former Dixiecrat Strom Thurmond, who died in 2003 at age 100.

people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with
another, and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and
equal station to which the laws of nature and of nature's God entitle
them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they
should declare the causes which impel them to the separation." This is
the opening paragraph of the thirteen United States colonies'
declaration of independence from the then tyrannical England on
4 July
1776
. It was then and remains today the primary seminal founding
document of the United States of America.


Our Declaration of Independence was affirmed against the despot King
George III. However, with only a few modifications I submit that this
same declaration could be filed today against the current regime now
ruling — not governing — over We-the-People of the
United States of
America
. I would also submit that the reason for my statement is
already contained within our country's founding document. Note: For
those of you who were actually schooled in our nation's documents of
origin, this will be a brief refresher course. For those who were not
taught about them, I would suggest a reading assignment beginning with
the "Declaration of Independence" referenced below.


Our founders' reasons for dissolving the bonds between England and the
emerging USA were myriad. But, it is uncanny and may even be a bit
unsettling to discover that the motivations for We-the-People breaking
away from King George III are the same ones we find in our current US
government today. Let's take a look.


Some of the causes for our founders declaring independence from England
and the similar if not almost identical conditions existing in the USA
today are contained within the original Declaration of Independence.
They are:


1. D of I: "He [King George] has refused his assent to laws,
the most wholesome and necessary for the public good."


A. Current: He [Obama] is now refusing to allow sovereign US
States to enact laws to protect themselves. Example: AZ passing an
almost mirror image [but more restrictive to AZ law enforcement] bill of
federal immigration law, in order to protect itself from drug cartels,
kidnappings, human trafficking and foreign invasion. Obama & Co is
now suing Arizona for attempting to protect itself; claiming that it is
the US government's sole purview to decide to either protect or NOT to
protect the US-Mexico border. Note: In this way, as the US government
is not going after other States who already have similar laws on their
books — including but, not limited to Rhode Island and California — it
strongly appears that there may actually have been some backroom deal
between Obama and Mexican President Felipe Calderon to cede the State of
Arizona to Mexico. By the way, did you know that Obama is using YOUR
tax dollars to sue Arizona?


2. D of I: "He [King George] has forbidden his governors to
pass laws of immediate and pressing importance, unless suspended in
their operation till his assent should be obtained; and when so
suspended, he has utterly neglected to attend to them."


A. Current: This follows almost exactly in conjunction with #1
above. Obama says he has the sole right and ability to make decisions
for the States. Obama forbade Arizona Governor Jan Brewer from
attempting to protect her State and its citizens from foreign invasion.
Obama encouraged a foreign government (Mexico) to also file a lawsuit
against the US State of Arizona! This is patently treasonous behavior
being affected and committed by the Usurper Obama. Obama is also
gearing up to enact lawsuits against and to fight all other sovereign US
States filing lawsuits against the blatantly unconstitutional
ObamaCare. Again...with YOUR tax dollars and against the consent of the
governed — now known as "the ruled "


3. D of I: " He [King George] has refused to pass other laws
for the accommodation of large districts of people, unless those people
would relinquish the right of representation in the legislature, a right
inestimable to them and formidable to tyrants only."


A. Current: He [Obama] told Senator Jon Kyl (R-AZ) that he will
NOT protect the border and the American people until Republicans agree
to immigration reform — aka "Amnesty." Again, the usurper is refusing
to protect American citizens unless they submit to his will. And,
again, treason, folks — purely and simply.


4. D of I: "He [King George] has obstructed the administration
of justice, by refusing his assent to laws for establishing judiciary
powers."


A. Current: "He [Obama] and his DOJ overturned a legal decision
— perpetrators caught on video — against Obama-supporters The New Black
Panthers who blocked and threatened white voters in Philadelphia.
According to sworn testimony before a Congressional Committee, former
DOJ Attorney J. Christian Adams said that Obama's DOJ has no intention
of upholding the Voting Rights Act if white people are the victims and
black people are the perpetrators. Adams said that in November 2009
Deputy Assistant Attorney General Julie Fernandes also stated about the
voter list integrity (including listed dead people, felons, people who
had moved out of the area etc.): "We have no interest in enforcing this
provision of the law. It has nothing to do with increasing turnout, and
we are just not going to do it!" Obama and his faux "department of
justice" are clearly no longer following or enforcing the law of the
land.


5. D of I: "He [King George] has made judges dependent on his
will alone, for the tenure of their offices, and the amount and payment
of their salaries."


A. Current: He [Obama] appears to have trained and/or
intimidated judges into using the "you have no standing" excuse in order
to disallow anyone from viewing his true birth certificate. Currently,
no one in the United States has "standing" to demand or even request
that a copy of Obama's BC be made available to determine whether or not
he is even eligible for the POTUS position. Insane.


6. D of I: "He [King George] has erected a multitude of new
offices, and sent hither swarms of officers to harass our people, and
eat out their substance."


A. Current: He [Obama] created ObamaCare for and with the
expressed purpose of creating hundreds of new offices staffed with
ObamaBureaucrats to control We-the-People. He has now created more new
"offices" than any other POTUS in history.


There are more similarities — if not exact matches — between the
tyrannies employed by King George III and those now being affected
against the American people by Obama and his Marxist regime. I
encourage everyone to read or reread the extraordinary Declaration of
Independence. When tyrannies become so apparent that said tyranny and
oppression of the people are seen in the light of day we must
acknowledge them, warn others and prepare to fight in earnest. If not,
we will lose all hope of freedom and liberty today and into the future.
We will have become slaves to the Police State; this time Obama's.
Prepare yourselves and your loved ones, folks. It is coming very soon.

LETTER FROM A RETIRED BORDER PATROL AGENT:

This letter sent to Tennessee Senator Bill Frist from a retired border patrol agent,
and it has more common sense than all the bull being spewed from the Senate,
with the exception of a few sensible representatives.

Dear Senator Frist:

There is a huge amount of propaganda and myths circulating about illegal aliens,
particularly
illegal Mexican, Salvadorian, Guatemalan and Honduran aliens.

#1. Illegal aliens generally do NOT want US citizenship. Americans are very vain
thinking that everybody in the world wants to be a
US citizen. Mexicans, and
other nationalities want to remain citizens of their home countries while obtaining
the benefits offered by the United States such as employment, medical care,
instate tuition, government subsidized housing and free education for their
offspring. Their main attraction is employment and their loyalty usually remains
at home. They want benefits earned and subsidized by middle class Americans.
What illegal aliens want are benefits of American residence without paying
the price.

#2. There are no jobs that Americans won't do. Illegal aliens are doing jobs
that Americans can't take and still support their families. Illegal aliens take
low wage jobs, live dozens in a single residence home, share expenses and
send money to their home country. There are no jobs that Americans won't
do for a decent wage.

#3. Every person who illegally entered this nation left a home. They are NOT
homeless and they are NOT Americans. Some left jobs in their home countries.
They come to send money to their real home as evidenced by the more than 20
billion dollars sent out of the country each year by illegal aliens. These illegal
aliens knowingly and willfully entered this nation in violation of the law and
therefore assumed the risk of detection and deportation. Those who brought their
alien children assumed the responsibility and risk on behalf of their children.

#4. Illegal aliens are NOT critical to the economy. Illegal aliens constitute less
than 5% of the workforce. However, they reduce wages and benefits for lawful
US residents.
